I purchased this set because I was replacing my 16 year old radiant cooktop with a new induction cooktop and most of my older cookware was not induction capable.

I decided that these were a reasonable alternative to the more expensive All Clad cookware and, at this price, if they didn't work out well I could always afford to replace them.

I used them originally with the old radiant cooktop and was quite impressed with how quickly they heated, how well the cooked, and how easy they were to clean. I had expected stainless steel to be hard to clean but these are not. At times I will need to soak them for an hour or so prior to cleaning but most of the time that is not necessary. So far we have used regular dishwashing liquid to clean them.

I'm even more impressed with their performance with my new GE induction cooktop and I particularly like the interior volume markings. It is amazing how I can "titrate" the level of simmering/bubbling/boiling with the combination of the induction cooktop and this cookware.

In short, these are very cost effective, functional, and attractive.

The ergonomic handles make these pots and pans much better than any other similar pots and pans available. The handles really do stay cool, and they make the pans a lot easier to lift and move. These pans heat very evenly. They do not have a nonstick surface, a feature I prefer. I have a glass cook top stove and usually use a medium low setting for foods that are cooked without water. Baking soda works well for cleaning any residue that sticks to the pan when a higher heat is used. I never use scratchy pads or commercial scouring powders to clean these pans, just baking soda on a dish cloth or liquid dish detergent and warm water. The lids are very convenient, both to use and to store. I prefer these metal lids to the glass lids that come with many pans.

I've owned this set of cookware for over two years, and I love them! The packaging was the first sign of quality. Everything is individually placed in plastic bags, then placed in cloth bags. They are superb quality, sturdy, very well-constructed, good looking, heat evenly, and I expect them to last a very, very long time. They've tarnished slightly, but it does not affect the results, and may be caused by occassionally cleaning them in the dishwasher. They clean up nicely for non-non-stick pans. :) They are a bit pricey, but if you want long lasting cookware that produces consistent results without requiring special care, treat yourself to this awesome set!

This is a great set. To clean I would suggest BOn Ami. HEats evenly, easy to clean and maintain.

Before purchasing this cookware set, I had read that it is hard to clean. Boy, they aren't kidding. You have to buy special stainless steel cleaner to remove even scrambled egg from the pan. Also, be very careful about using oil sprays (like Pam) because it sticks to the pan and is very hard to get off. Otherwise, I am very happy with the set because it is heavy and well constructed, heats evenly and works well. If you don't mind extra work to clean it, this would be the set for you. I would still buy this set again without hesitation.

I bought the 3 quart pot. I use it a lot to cook pasta, noodles and other things that need to be drained. Unfortunately the shape of the handle is oval tending towards round. When I try to tip the pot over to drain the water out of it, the handle rotates in my hand so that I can't tip it. The only way I've been able to manage this is to use outdoor gloves with non-slip grips.

I had these in my cart for purchasing from Amazon, but wanted to actually hold one in my hand before I bought them. We had considered All-Clad, Calphalon, and Cuisinart stainless, but when we went to a store I really didn't like how the All-Clad handles felt. They weren't comfortable. So I took an early morning trip to a local retail store that stocked Henckels. I really liked the feel. The weight was good, I liked the handles. The rims rolled out well, but the lids still fit nicely.

(An aside: Their Labor Day sale price wasn't as good as Amazon, but I lucked out: they were out of the 10 piece set, but gave me a sweet deal on the display set (no box). I paid about $40 less than amazon's price.)

Took them home and gave them a good cleaning. Then I fried an egg. Let the pan warm at about 1/2 heat (electric stove), added a smidge of butter. The heat did have to be turned down. Violà! No sticking! Easy clean.

Next, pasta. Yes, I did get a few blue swirls on the bottom of the pan, but they also cleaned up well.

Tonight it was linguini with clam sauce. Again, no prep to the pan and NO sticking! Just let the pan preheat, and don't use can sprays.

It's true that these pans take less "heat" than our old calphalon non-stick.

Oh, and the ends of the handles do stay cool. They will be warm / hot around the "Y", but the handle won't be uncomfortable.

Cheaper than many, better than most.

I got this set about 2 months ago. It's been great! I love the 1 quart saucepan! The measurement markings are really convenient. I made pancakes in one of the fry pans and they didn't stick at all! They're beautiful and very functional. I'm very happy with this cookware set!

I thought that I had posted a review on this item earlier perhaps not. The J.A. Henckels International Classic Clad 10-Piece Cookware Set is wonderfully heavy and nice to cook with, it heat evenly and we like owning it. But we still use a Teflon aluminum pan for our over easy eggs. Theirs a trick I found to keeping these Stainless steel pans clean and keeping the original finishes look inside the pan or pot. Use a ¼ cup of arm & hammer soda and the same amount of white vinegar. Or use bar-tender best friend.

I purchased this set to replace an older set of non-stick pans when we moved into a new house. I could not be happier with my purchase. I was hesitant with buying stainless steel as I was fearful of how difficult it might be to clean it. I find these pots/pans are almost as easy to clean as my non-stick were. Also, the cooking is very quick and even with this set. Along with a gas cooktop, the cooking time is greatly reduced. And you only have to cook at 4-5 instead of 7-8.
I would highly recommend this set to anybody. I definitely plan on adding to the set with additional J.A. Henckels pieces of the same model.
