Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Clad inside and out in gleaming stainless steel, this eight-quart stock pot is ideal for slowly simmering chili, soups, and stews. An aluminum core sandwiched between the stainless steel layers distributes heat evenly not just across the bottom of the pot but up the sides, and requires only low to medium cooking temperatures. Riveted for strength, two square handles on the sides of the pot and another on the stainless-steel lid offer secure lifting even with mitts on. Whisks, spoons, and cleaning brushes all glide smoothly along the curved inner contour of the pan, and the lid fits snugly on the flared, easy-pour rim.

J.A. Henckels International, the economical division of Zwilling J.A. Henckels, makes the stylish and durable Classic Clad series for serious home cooks. As well as being oven- and broiler-safe up to 500 degrees F, each pot or pan features a brightly polished magnetic stainless-steel exterior safe for all types of stovetop burners: gas, electric, ceramic, induction, and halogen. The 18/10 stainless-steel interior resists sticking, won't react to acidic foods, and welcomes metal utensils. Henckels recommends washing Classic Clad pieces by hand to retain the mirror finish, and covers the cookware with a lifetime warranty against defects. Except for the frying pans, each pot shows liter and quart markings, and every piece comes wrapped in a soft, drawstring gift/storage bag. A stainless-steel pasta insert is available to fit the 8-quart stock pot. --Ann Bieri

From the Manufacturer
Patented ergonomic handle design provides optimal control, comfort, and balance. The end of the handle has a hanging hole which saves storage space in the kitchen. Unique hollow cast handle design and V-shaped connection to pot keeps handle cooler.
Side and lid handles are designed to avoid contact with hot surfaces. Larger pans have helper handles to allow for easy and safe lifting of pans. Flared rim design for ease of pouring and optimal strength. Pan interiors have a curved corner design to allow for easy cleaning.
Capacity markings on most items for ease in measuring ingredients for recipes. Code markings on pans and lids makes for easy selection of correct size lid for each pan. The domed shape of the lids fit securely to retain moisture through self-basting. This prevents loss of flavor and vitamins and reduces cooking time.

All pans are oven and broiler safe up to 500 degrees fahrenheit and provide cook and serve versatility. The pans have a wide range of stopetop compatibility and can be used with all popular cook top surfaces such as as electric, gas, ceramic, halogen, and induction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Keeper!, November 22, 2008

I am thrilled with this purchase.

After purchasing and using the 1 quart saucepan for awhile, I decided to splurge and replace my old, cheaper SS pots with this brand.
I gave me great pleasure to donate the old ones to a charity.

I'm not likely to ever need new ones again, because these pots are so well made. My older ones would develop hot spots and tend to scorch unless you were glued to the pot while cooking.
This brand of cookware does an excellent job. The heat is evenly dispersed, the handles are hefty, they are very sturdy without the weight of enameled cast iron in similar sizes and they clean up easily.

What more could I ask for?

The inside measurements are an added bonus. They consist of both qt and liter measurements, making it easy to add liquids without using a measuring cup.

I've purchased the Henckels Classic Clad in the 1 qt, 2 qt, 3.5 qt, 6 qt and 8 qt sizes and fully expect them to serve me and whoever inherits them indefinately.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality, August 13, 2011

I cook a LOT, and cookware is important to me. I was intrigued by these pans because I wanted to shift to induction, and only my Lodge could handle it - my much-loved Calphalon commercial anodized would have to go. I bought a large All-Clad skillet, like it a lot. Then saw these, and the price point, and couldn't believe it. I bought a small single pan, then the set, and now am back to get the large stock pot. They are simply wonderful pans. I've been using them for a couple of years now, and they perform exactly as I need them to. The heat radiating from the sides - instead of only from a pad on the bottom, like many pans - makes a huge difference. Given the choice, I'd re-design the handles on the skillets and sauce pots - they are less than perfect for me with a heavy pan full of food, but it's manageable. Others may find that they fit their hands better than they do mine. Handles matter, but these pans have so much going for them that it's a minor problem. Also like the ID on the bottom of each pan that matches the ID on the inside of the lids - easy to figure out which lid goes to which pot.

I'm sad that these pans seem to be being phased out? I hope I'm wrong, but most of the workhorse pans I use daily are no longer shown. If you aren't driven by matchy-matchy sets, don't delay. These are fabulous pans, buy them while you still can.

5.0 out of 5 stars All-Clad Killer at half the price, November 18, 2011

This review is from: J.A. Henckels International Classic Clad 8-Quart Stock Pot with Lid (Kitchen)
Whether you buy the Henckels International Classic Clad or Zwilling/Henckels TruClad Stock pot (basically same product) - Both are as good as the American-made All-clad equivalent and hundreds less in price. Good: 1. The tri-clad goes all the way up the side of the pot 2. Steel is thick and induction friendly 3. measurement notches on inside of pot 4. Handles are bigger, cooler and easier to grasp than all-clad (especially the lid). 5. Get's to a boil quickly.

I did a boil test between an 8 qt all-clad, 8 qt Henckels & 8 qt Analon. Henckels was the first to a simmer and all-clad and henckels were about even to a boil.

Bad: marketing, user guide etc.. are awful..I could not find a good comparison review for their products. Chrome finish may scratch more easily on Henckels.. durability unknown.
