Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Made from high quality stainless steel with a micro-serrated edge, the Eversharp Pro line of kitchen knives from J.A. Henckels International are touted as never needing sharpening. This 7-piece set includes 8-inch chef, 8-inch bread, 7-inch santoku, 5-inch boning, 5-inch tomato, and 3-inch paring knives. It also includes a handsome hardwood storage block with rubber feet for a firm, non-scratch grip on your counter.

Eversharp Pro knives are made from high-grade, rolled stainless steel, produced using Henckels' own Sintermetal Component Technology. This process allows different grades of steel to be combined to form a single integral piece capable of withstanding extreme stress--each part of the knife is made from the grade of steel with the optimum characteristics for that component. Cutting edges feature a specially designed serration pattern, ensuring prolonged sharpness without resharpening. The full-length tang (meaning the metal continues all the way through to the end of the handle) gives you a better-balanced and stronger knife. The polypropylene handle with rustproof rivets is nearly indestructible.

They're dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended to keep the steel blades scratch-free. Unlike Henckels' premier knives, which are made in Germany, these knives are made in China; however, they do carry the company's lifetime warranty against defects.

What's in the Box

7-piece set includes 8-inch chef's knife, 8-inch bread knife, 7-inch santoku knife, 5-inch boning knife, 5-inch tomato knife, 3-inch paring knife, and hardwood storage block

4.0 out of 5 stars Watch Out--These are REALLY sharp... January 3, 2007
These are amazing knives that are so sharp they cut easily through thin plastic cutting sheets, so BE CAREFUL! I've also cut myself on the points while washing them. The only beef I have with them is that the points have bent on some of them with little pressure, and on one knife the tip actually broke off. Again, BE CAREFUL... The block I received doesn't match the block on the box, and has a space for scissors. Even after returning the set, the new set I received had the same block again. In this block, the longest knife protrudes out the bottom (not so far that it hits the counter, but you could get cut moving it around if you happen to grab the bottom of the block. BE CAREFUL...) I've had them in heavy use for 6 mos, not long enough to test the eversharp edge. My Regent Sheffield eversharps are 20 years old and still sharp without sharpening. They were never as sharp as these Henckels, though!

4.0 out of 5 stars great everyday knives December 10, 2008
By Mel
Great knives, have had for over 2 years now. I cook a lot and really wanted a good knife in the kitchen. These have good comfortable handles, easy to cut, strong thick metal blades, etc. It's definatley not the expensive version of Henckels, but great quality & economical. I've compared other versions in same price range at the stores and these have the best blades and handles. Also a plus is the "Eversharp" blade - I love it because I never have to sharpen a knife again, it's always sharp, they cut great. As with any knife they should never go in the dishwasher, but we place ours in the dishwasher from time to time and have never had any problems. I would definatley recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, but not great ... November 9, 2009
We've had those knives for 3 years now ... they are okay. They are still as sharp as in the beginning BUT they were never the sharpest knives around to begin with - a lot better than most cheap sets though ... Good Value for the money - probably enough for most households. But if cooking is not a necessity but a hobby for you - save some more money up and get the four star knives by henckels or something the same quality. I've purchased a set (of the four star ones... you get a great deal right now btw) just today cause I'm getting tired of struggling with meat and I'm going to sell the eversharp set. Anyone interested??? ;)

2.0 out of 5 stars I am surprised J.A. Henckels would make such a low grade knife...
save your money for the twin signature Hinckels they are a much better quality product. There is no comps on them. As for the serrated edges.... really! :-(

4.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
I ordered german-made knives to replace the ones that I lost in the divorce. I got knives made in Taiwan. The blades are serrated and the handles aren't that comfortable. Read more
