Reach for this utility knife when a job--sandwich-making, for example--doesn't require a specialized blade. With its 6-inch blade, it's also large enough to trim a chuck roast or subdue a head of lettuce. It's shaped like a paring knife, only longer. Henckels' International Traditional is a moderately priced cutlery line made in countries other than the company's home of Germany. The steel is of lesser quality than that used in its premier lines. Also, the handles are narrower and shallower--a feature those with small hands might appreciate. While this utility knife is dishwasher-safe, hand washing is recommended. --Fred Brack
