My natural hair color is light ash brown with blond highlights.

Cons: Just like any henna or plant die, messy and takes a very long time to get good results.

Color Name: MIRACULOUS MEDIUM BROWN Verified Purchase
I'm THRILLED with the outcome of this product. For years I've been using chemical colors, and I knew that the time had come to let them go for good. That said, I wasn't ready to go gray (by now I'm probably salt n pepper). So I went to my stylist and had an overall lightening...blonde highlights on my brunette hair. This set the stage to move into the natural color, as the blonde has blended with the grays as it has grown. Now I did the henna on top of the blonde/gray roots, and it all blends perfectly! The henna leaves highlights and shimmer where the blonde/gray was, while coloring all the hair with a brilliant, shiny medium/dark brown. It's EXACTLY what I was looking for, and I placed an order for months' supply (never going back!). A few pointers given to me by a local expert: I used half the packet for my medium length hair. I also used tea (rather than water) just to boost the color. Add a teaspoon of vinegar (I used red wine vinegar) to help the color take hold. Add another teaspoon of oil (I used apricot; olive is fine as well) to help with the conditioning. Then re-mix and add more hot water to create a runnier mix -- more like regular hair color. Apply to your hair (it's not easy breezy, but just scoop it up and rub into scalp & hair). Place plastic over head and wait 1 1/2 hours....then heat up with a dryer for five minutes (or sit in the sun). Rinsing is messy...I did it in the shower. Condition VERY WELL to help get the rest of the henna out. The outcome is simply....GORGEOUS! YAY!

Color Name: AWESOME AUBURN Verified Purchase
Love love loved Henna! This is my first time to try Henna, I have a medium brown hair color. And to be honest I was extremely scared at first to try Henna, cause I'm a hair freak and i love my hair! I had a real bad experience with trying to fix my chemically ruined hair. My hair was messed up at a salon. So I've been using drug store chemical dyes (natural and ammonium free) for the past 6 months to cover up and darken the platinum blonde the stylist gave me, figured red would stick best. But it made my hair split and it was so dry! The store dyes would fade so fast and become orange after a while, and after the second time i even started to lose hair! And yes i cried. That's just me... :/

With Henna my hair is so soft and has a beautiful color, I mixed the wine red (100mg) with the auburn(100 mg) since i have medium to long length hair below my bosom.

1. I Love the color! I read an article stating to use 100mg for short or above shoulder length hair, 200-300mg for medium length hair, and 300-500mg for waist length or longer. When doing the process it's better to have a pancake batter thickness more watery than having it thick. Makes it far easier to put on your hair and far easier to massage into your head. I added 2tablespoons of olive oil for each 100mg i was using and 2tablespoons of lemon juice, i also used red zinger and tazo passion tea instead of just plain water cause it helped with the henna smell people complain about. I just used 4 coffee mugs two for each type of tea, and make sure the tea is hot, not scalding but if it's cold you won't see the Henna change color. :(

2.Definetly use a towel if you're going to try henna i just used a hand towel and tied it around my neck with a hair tie.

Color Name: LIVELY LIGHT BROWN
This stuff is great. First of all, I was not too sure about trying to do this myself and was really skeptical about how it would work, but I have to say it came out great. I usually go to a salon and have my hair colored. My hair does have some gray in it. I purchased this and their Kharma all natural conditioner. I really wanted to stop using the chemical coloring and go with organic non chemical dye. I prepared this mix by first getting some water from my Reverse Osmosis system and brewing it with Chamomile tea(For conditioning and enhancing color). I think it is best to use the RO water or distilled because the water in my county tends to be very hard water and has a lot of chlorine in it.I then added the tea in slowly to the mix and stirred until it was mixed in. I let it sit for 30 minutes stirring every 5 minutes which activates color. I also added a tablespoon of vinegar which helps the color hold to the roots especially for any gray. Also to give it a nicer scent, I sprayed some lavender water on it from the health food store. It is just lavender mixed in with water and I just sprayed it on the mix. I did my roots first and put the mix on slightly damp hair just on the roots for about two hours. Then I rinsed it out and put the remainder of the mix on all my hair and left it on for two hours. I then rinsed it and used the Kharma conditioner on it. The conditioner has no chemicals and is basically essential oils.I then blow dried it out and it came out very nice, covered the grays, beautiful color and very conditioned. No more salon colorings for me. No more chemical dyes for me. I was surprised at how nice it came out. I did it myself and I am not the best at this kind of stuff, but it came out just great.Read more ›
