5.0 out of 5 stars Chock Full of Laughs and Fun
This book is classically funny and has a wonderful message for readers of all ages. In this day and age of computer technology it's wonderful to be able to show younger children that books and reading are still the most important learning tool and can get you out of almost any predicament you are in.
In regards to the negative reviews regarding the dry humor...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pictures are wonderful
but the story is kind of cheesy. The point is well and good, but the ending is a little weak. You might want to look at a copy in your local library before purchasing and see if it is worth the pictures.

In regards to the negative reviews regarding the dry humor (Rabbitson Caruso etc) that actually gave a wonderful opening to share the original historical characters as well as the classic books with my younger children. So they became interested in reading them when they got older.
The "dog" incident was so minor I didnt even notice it til I read the review here but I personally look at it as they dont show them "eating or killing a dog" so its no different than Elmer Fudd talking about turning Bugs Bunny into Rabbit Stew to a child.

This book is hilarious, wonderfully illustrated, and rich in delicious, pirate-like language. This is a light-hearted tale that illustrates why everyone needs to read.

Once again Carolyn Crimi has written a book filled with adventure and humor that will please children as well as the adults who will be asked to read this book over and over. The illustrations are lively and fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you love Pirates...., December 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a Christmas present for my son who has been asking about this book ever since he checked it out from the Library. If you have a child who loves pirates, and mine loves anything pirates...this is a great book. Good lesson about people (or rabbits in this case) being different and how if we all work together and use our differences we can make things better.

5.0 out of 5 stars A grand adventure!, January 21, 2011
A *MUCH, MUCH* better pro-reading story book than "Dog Loves Books." The illustrations are so much funnier, and of course the entire pirate theme is a winner. The bunny pirate flag is a hoot, and all the pirates are well-drawn characters.

At the beginning of the story, Henry is your typical dream-boat reader in a crowd of active outdoorsy-types... but in the end, of course he saves them all with his book knowledge.

This one ranks up there with "Wild About Books" by Judy Sierra for a cheerful, pro-reading message that makes them laugh out loud and read it again.

My 2.5 year old son LOVES this book. The beautiful bold graphics really capture his attention, and he already identifies with Henry. He sees the bunny with the book and says "Like Me!" I know this will help him later on in life. He wants to read it every night now, "Please Pirate Momma?"

This is a wonderfully well written and illustrated book, with a great story line. My son has loved this for years and we still love to read it. It was really nice to finally find a pirate book that was approproiate for younger readers. Not only is this about pirates, but teaches children about the invaluable treasure to be found in books!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story and play with language, December 28, 2008
This review is from: Henry & the Buccaneer Bunnies (Hardcover)
My three-year old and I found this book in our library. Both of us loved it so much that I made sure she got a copy for Christmas. It is a wonderful story about a pirate bunny that would rather read than do his pirate duties. His reading ends up saving the crew once they are shipwrecked. The author plays with language. It is just a fun book to read. Highly recommend this book!
