It can be hard to make children understand the importance of manners - and even harder to get them to use good manners. This book addresses those situations. This book is great for any parent who is trying to teach their child the importance of having good manners. The story shows how children will have miss out at school and at home when they choose to be rude and mean. All good points.

It is written with a loose, rhyming style that makes the message seem less preachy and more accessible. As a few other reviewers noted, the rhyming style is fluid - it is not the same on ever page - however, it was easy to read aloud to my kids. I personally felt this added to the story as it had an almost sing-songy flow, which makes it less preachy.

The drawings are all in the same style as the cover. They are simple, but they match the story and are great for small children. My daughter (4) thought they were cute and was actually inspired to try her hand at copying them. Since she is only four, she wasn't successful, but I like a book that makes her want to try!.

As for readability, the book looks great on the Kindle for PC. The images scale up to a size that is easy to see and read, but as one reviewer mentioned, the text is not editable, so it can't be enlarged if you plan to read it on a smaller device like an iPhone. Of course, this is always a choice with children's Kindle books. If you make the text editable and there are more than a few words, then the child can't see the picture as you read the story. If you make the text & picture one same page the story flows well, but you can't enlarge the text. There are pros and cons of each. But all of my children prefer the stories (like this one) that show the text and the pictures at the same time.

Although the book says "Text to Speech" is enabled, since the story is all part of the page image, your Kindle will be unable to read this book aloud.

Anyway, this review would be longer, but I have to go because my little one just asked me, "Can you read me that story again?"

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute Story May 11, 2011
By Samuel

I thought this story was cute, but the author could have spent a bit more time with editing and polishing this piece of work. The drawings seemed a bit "rough" to me, as something that was quickly put together. This story is very short too.

Now, my concern with this piece (that likely is not the fault of the author but the device I am using) is that I had difficulty viewing the small text on the Kindle. With the text embedded as a picture, it became impossible to enlarge the text, so I had a hard time trying to read the words. Personally, I would suggest having pictures and text on different "pages" to help with the flow of the book.

Overall, I feel this deserves three stars because it was a nice read, but would have been better if this piece of work were polished a bit more.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Kids LOVED it October 30, 2011

I got this on a lark to see how well my children would enjoy a book from my kindle. I was happy to find the illustration, and it was a hit. My children love hearing this story. My boys are three and five so we work on manners often. They understand the concept of controlling their manners, and it is a fun book with a nice message. It serves as a wonderful tool to help remind the manners lessons that we as parents teach. I would recommend this book to anyone.

My 9-year-old son picked this rating. He really enjoyed this book. Some gross out factors for boys and also a good lesson for all children (and some adults!)
