Dominates AMERICAN BEUATY and SILENCE OF THE LAMBS,
This review is from: Henry Fool (Paperback)
This is going to be one of the most underrated, underwatched films of the decade. Why does a award winning script (Cannes) go unnoticed shortly after its nomination and acceptence? Based on Harold Bloom's ANXIETY OF INFLUENCE, this dark comedy inspires and uplifts while the tongue stays in the cheek. Literary influcences include Goethe's FAUST and James Joyce's relationship with Samuel Beckett (the latter was the secretary for the former for a short while). I cannot say enough for this film. By and far the most power film, if not a contender for most power piece of literature this decade and of (gulp) this century. Get ready for gut wrentching catharsis set on 11! Highly recommended.

WHAT AN UNEXPECTED GEM,

How come I have never heard of this film? I found it by accident and it is amazing. It's smart, unexpected, ironic, sweet and dark. This film is an example of storytelling at it's best and puts big budget blockbusters with no real heart to shame. It is about friendship, the written word, family and small town life all mixed up in one little dysfunctional package. Watch it and be ready for anything. I loved this movie.
