I use to have these records and sold them about 600+ a couple of years ago, and really miss this kind of music. The artist's are great and the pieces of music are awsome. Just great music!!!!

I'm 19 and I love this old stuff! You just don't hear this stuff around anymore...and although there is good stuff like Chemical Brothers and Smash Mouth floating around, the old stuuf is still the best. Mancini rules!

this is a great CD I've had good memories about it in my pass and so i thought of buying an album myself so i can bring those memories to my kids

Great cd. It brings back a lot of good memories of music popular while I was growing up. Very enjoyable!

Befitting and orchestra leader of his renown there are numerous Henry Mancini CDs available, many of them much better choices than this compilation from RCA/BMG. Like others in this series [Neil Sedaka and Jose Feliciano as examples], there are no liner notes and only a partial discography on the reverse showing the year of each recording and the movie/TV production involved. There are, however, no original label numbers or album details, nor chart performances.

They also include several [tracks 3, 4, and 15] which do not fit into the category of "all-time greatest hits" - at least not for Mancini. The hit versions of Baby Elephant Walk belong to Lawrence Welk [# 48 Billboard Pop Hot 100] and The Miniature Men [# 87 Hot 100], both in 1962, while for Peter Gunn the original hits belong to Ray Anthony [# 8 in 1959] and Duane Eddy [#27 in 1960], with later hits by Deodato [# 84 in 1976], and The Art Of Noise featuring Duane Eddy [# 50 in 1986]. Experiment In Terror was also never a hit.

Better choices to fit the title would have been Theme From Hatari [# 95 Hot 100 in 1962], Banzai Pipeline [# 93 Hot 100 in 1963], and Dear Heart [# 14 Adult Contemporary (AC)/# 77 Hot 100 in 1965]. Indeed, he also put 17 additional selections onto the AC charts, up to 1977, including such gems as Hawaii (Main Title) - # 6 in late 1966 - and Wait Until Dark - # 4 in late 1967.

On the plus side the sound quality is excellent and you do get 12 legitimate Henry Mancini hits, including three that made only the Adult Contemporary charts [track 8 - # 23 in 1965; track 12 - # 17 in 1967; and track 13 - # 17 in 1970].

One final note. I don't know where they got the "Volume 1" reference shown above. That does not appear on my copy of the CD and, as far as I can tell, there never has been a Volume 2 for any of the artists covered in this particular series.

Almost everybody knows that for more than 25 years,HENRI MANCINI was one of the best composer of music for movies.He collaborated with directors STANLEY DONEN(CHARADE,ARABESQUE,TWO FOR THE ROAD)and BLAKE EDWARDS(BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S,THE PINK PANTHER,DARLING LILI)to name a few.With that cd,you get an interesting sample of his works.Those who really like his music a lot,are now fortunate to choose among the original soundtracks albums now available on the market on 2 soundtracks on 1 cd collection.

what can you say about the Genius Of Henry Mancini? his songs are timeless.The Pink Panther theme alone still sounds fresh to this day.he is a great Composer.
