The entire set is oustanding!!,

This review is from: Henry Purcell: The Complete Anthems and Services, Vol. 2 (Audio CD)
While some of the works are superior to others the entire set is great in the realm of production. Mostly all of these pieces are just superb and if you are someone who enjoys English Baroque then you absolutely MUST purchase these cds. If you enjoy complex, melancholic or heroic music then I urge you to purchase this cd and the rest of the volumes in the set...you won't be disappointed.

This review is from: Henry Purcell: The Complete Anthems and Services, Vol. 2 (Audio CD)
Henry Purcell's Anthems are lovely. The King's Consort vocalists have beautiful voices, plus the music is so well composed. Some scholars believe that the anthem "And My Song Shall Be Alway" is what Brother John Wesley was listening to the afternoon of May 25, 1738, in St. Paul's Cathedral,London. It is based on Psalm 89. Bro. Wesley made a journal entry on May 25, 1738, that he listened to an anthem with this title. This makes the cd very interesting with it's history connection.
