excellent integration of visuals and good plot,
By guagno1@erols.com (Perkasie, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Henry's Gift: The Magic Eye (Hardcover)
Henry's gift has an excellent story line. The magic eye images and surealistic illustration only add to this book. The only thing keeping this book away from a whopping 5 stars is David Worsick writing technique. It's as if during the narration he is writing to an adult audience, but during dialouge he tries to appeal to children. His wealth of knowledge on the subject of midevil times, though, partialy make up for it.

A new meaning to the word "vision",

This review is from: Henry's Gift: The Magic Eye (Hardcover)
This simple medieval style swords and sorcery adventure gives a new and interesting meaning to the term vision. The story is another rendition of the old one about a young man on a journey to learn who he truly is in relation to a throne that has been usurped. While the text does not grab you, what makes the book work is that it is supplemented by a set of 3-D illusions; the kind where if you look at them right the image will appear. Therefore, this is a book with actual visions and in the story the young man Henry is the only one that can look at old parchments and see the "vision" embedded within it.If you are one of the people that has difficulty with viewing the 3D component of these images, a complete set of what you should see is included at the end. I must confess that while I did see something similar, my "visions" were not quite as accurate at they could have been.

I really love these books. I am fascinated by the technique used to get the 3-d affect. I have everyone out.
