5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Read!, January 26, 2007
This review is from: Hepatitis C Through a Patient's Eyes; Hope for Healing (Paperback)
When my husband was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, information for the "lay person" was simply not available. It was very frustrating trying to wade through all the medical jargon and terminology, especially at a time when you're frightened and confused. I wish this book had been available for our family, as it is a well-written, easily understood account of what a patient needs to know from the outset about diagnosis, treatment options, what to expect, etc. If you or someone you care about has been diagnosed with Hepatitis C, I strongly recommend giving this book a try; I believe you'll find it very helpful and encouraging.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST ever-necessary reading for EVERYONE!!!, August 11, 2006
This review is from: Hepatitis C Through a Patient's Eyes; Hope for Healing (Paperback)
I do not even have Hepatitis C and this was an excellent book to read. I learned about pain and healing and love and kindness. It was no doubt one of the best books I have ever read. The format of information and personal experience makes it easy to read as well as educational for everyone. I would like to read more books of this kind from this author. Let's hope she comes out with something else very soon.

This review is from: Hepatitis C Through a Patient's Eyes; Hope for Healing (Paperback)
I also have hep c, and have not read a book like this one. It is upbeat, easy to understand, and validates the feelings I've had. I needed to find and read this book. Thank you Suzy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A necessary book for Hep C victims, July 9, 2006
This review is from: Hepatitis C Through a Patient's Eyes; Hope for Healing (Paperback)
this book is an absolute necessessity for victims of Hepatitis C, to help them through the violent extremes of treatment, and to make them aware that there is a very real hope for living an even better life than before, and feeling good about themselves.
If you are, or even know a Hep C victim, then you need to get this book.
Very well written, sharing, from the heart of the author, her very personal experiences through the Hep C treatment process.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Real Disappointment & Dangerous too!, March 31, 2007
This review is from: Hepatitis C Through a Patient's Eyes; Hope for Healing (Paperback)
I was looking forward to reading this book after all the glowing reviews I read here. When I received the book and started to read it, WOW, what a disappontment. The first thing I noticed were the fonts on each page are in different sizes! One paragraph is one point size and the next paragraph is larger or smaller! This was a BIG RED FLAG. She starts with a rather amatuerish explaination of what a patient will have to go through after just being diagnosed. This is VERY DANGEROUS..she says she has "kept the professional technoloy to a dull roar", yet she continues on with more medical terminology. She says that the "your viral load number" is "NOT an indicator of how sick your liver is", then later on she states "the first goal is to attain viral load clearence"!? She also barrels on through with more unproven facts such as telling the reader to "keep their fingers crossed" that even though you have been diagnosed with HepC that you could be one of the lucky ones who have minimal liver damage who will not need treatment!!! This is so DANGEROUS for HepC patients to read. After that spectacularly moronic statement she then writes a heading for a paragraph telling readers "Having No Symptoms Does Not Mean Your Liver Disease is Not Progressing" Then tells readers "to get tested and treated now before your liver becomes that sick". She talks about how often she cried and was depressed, even bipolar before she underwent the treatment. Then writes that a psychiatrist started her on "medicine" throughout the treatment, but neglects to inform the reader what the "medicine" was. Then she just stuck in a slew of ridiculous emails, about her cat, how bad she felt, how she sobbed over this and sobbed over that, asking her friends for favors. She writes about herself as if she has two personalities, one day she's sobbing and the next day she's laughing with all of her co-workers and friends. Stay away from this one. The best book for beginners is "The First Year Hepatitis C An Essential Guide for the Newly Diagnosed" by Cara Bruce and Lisa Montanarelli. And this one is the best Medical Book for newly diagnosed "Living with Hepitis C-A survivor's Guide" by Gregory T. Everson M.D.,F.A.C.P Director of Hepatology, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and Hedy Weinberg. Good Luck!!
