Book Description

Libby has been in love with Tony Marchetti since she was seven years old. The problem? Tony is her best friend's older brother. Lately Tony has started looking at her in a new way and he emails her all the time. Could it be possible that he is starting to see her as more than his kid sister's best friend?

Tony knows Libby McKay is off limits. She's his sister's best friend for crying out loud! But she is also smart, funny, and seriously hot. Plus she's not afraid to get a little sweaty-- on the track that is. Tony can't seem to help himself, besides what's a few emails? The occasional phone call? He can keep things light and friendly-- Can't he?

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 Stars ~ Bad editing held the book back October 30, 2011

I love story lines with the main character falling for their best friends brother or brothers best friend, so the name alone made me download the sample. Then the sample peaked my curiosity enough to go ahead and buy the book.

It was a cute fun read that focuses on the relationship of Libby and her best friend Mel's older brother Tony. The whole book spans about 15 years as we get to see them interact at different ages starting with the first time they meet when Libby is seven. The best part was the great chemistry and sexual tension between Libby and Tony throughout the book. However, imo, there were maybe one too many "misunderstandings" between them for why, on multiple occasions, they did not end up together.

I rely heavily on reviews when choosing a book, so I know how many people cannot stand bad editing. If this is you, I hate to say it, but you might want to skip this book. I read A LOT of self published stories and normally could care less about proper editing, grammar and punctuation but this book was definitely the exception. It was impossible to overlook with constant words missing, or extra words added and the mixing up of he and she. There was even one or two times when a sentence was so out of whack I never did figure out what it was supposed to say. I am in no way an expert on proper grammar (huge fan of spell check right here!) but it was too much even for me.

Overall I did enjoy the read and do not feel I wasted my time. I'll give the author another try but hopefully the next one is cleaned up.

This book was a realistic love story with characters you feel connected to. It was a long book for this genre and had me sitting on the edge of my seat throughout the book. I would say there were almost too many plot twists or I could say 'star crossed lovers' incidents. It took a long time for the characters to finally get together, but it sure was fantastic and funny dialogue throughout, making the wait worth it. Worth every penny and more!

NOTE: I am only halfway through the book.

My first thought is: THE GRAMMAR! WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE GRAMMAR?!? Okay, I'm in the ninth grade, and I use better punctuation than this book/the author of this book. I know I'm not great, and it's actually on of my weak points, but.... I can't even express how frustrating it is. The commas, quotation marks and periods are completely out of whack and make the book harder to understand. Note to author: You put commas between two complete sentences that are combined by a conjunction. It goes before the conjunction.

I have also noticed that the characters do not talk like normal teenagers. They do not use contractions as often as the normal person. <-- written like that. It is not always that bad, I have just noted it a few times.

For the first third of the book, the plot was decent. It kept you wondering what would happen, and it conveyed the emotions rather well.
I'm in the second third of the book, and the plot is getting a bit too jumpy. It vaguely goes to focusing more on Tony's emotions to focusing on Libby's emotions. It will go from eating pizza vaguely from Libby's point of view to Tony becoming a sex-craved animal back to eating pizza and then playing Ski-ball.

As I mentioned, I haven't finished the book. I want to because the storyline is good, but I might not because ... *sobs* it's just so frustrating!

Very easy to follow the plot. I liked that the author did not ruin the story with a bunch of unneeded sexual content.
