I bought this book today and read nearly 2 chapters before giving up. It has to be the worst example of writing I have ever read. It felt like it was written for an idiot, constant explaining and stilted dialogue. The style doesn't flow and feels awkward. By the second chapter they are having sex and they had just looked at each other and barely spoken and already she knew she was in love and he knew she was something special. Examples of the horrible dialogue the heroine says to herself, "Tomorrow I will search him out. I will go to Key West. I will find him!" "I mustn't let his memory mesmerize me so. I mustn't!" ...she knew he had stolen something from her alright. Her....heart....! This book was written in 1984 and republished, I can only hope that her writing has improved, as for me I will never read her again.

I wish I'd quit after the first couple of chapters like another reviewer, M. Harrington, did. The hero and heroine barely look at each other and already wonder if he/she could be "the one." Shortly after the story begins, they end up having sex together, and it's such a ridiculous scene, I don't know why I kept reading.

But I did. I love pirate romances, and I hoped something would keep my interest. I not only wasted money on this title, but time as well. It makes me terribly hesitant to consider another Cassie Edwards novel (this was my first), but maybe years in the future I'd give one of her more highly-recommended novels a chance.

The heroine has a habit of whispering to herself, while the hero speaks in a "thick" voice. These same descriptions are used repeatedly in the novel. The dialogue is nonsensical and stiff, and I don't want to subject myself to that again, so if I do give Ms. Edwards another chance, it's going to be a highly-rated one.

I have read and enjoyed several of Cassie Edwards books. I found this one to be enchanting and full of adventure! Not a boring moment to be had in this book. I stayed up late to finish it.
