Great CD for what it sets out to do...,

This is NOT the CD you'll want to buy if you...A. Are expecting any new music (It has none.) B. Are looking for a comprehensive collection of early hits from Amy (Look for a boxed set within the next year to accomplish that goal.) C. Are looking for an album that has a logical flow or sequence (This collection was put together by RCA, who only owns the rights to some of Amy's songs. They are not all that concerned with such things.) With that said, however, this CD does indeed find its way into my CD player quite frequently. For new fans, its a neat way to see what capabilities (or at least a few of them) Amy has musically. For those of us who have been fans for awhile, it's a nice collection of songs that we love. And, yes, they've been remastered so they truly sound better than ever.... Thanks for reading,

Old songs, new collection. Nothing new, though.,

This is not an album of singles nor is it an album of greatest hits through her career. It is, however, an album of personal love songs to Jesus. These songs are from her early career in the late '70s and early '80s. Think of it as a synopsis of her born again Christian life. Very uplifting simple songs you can sing along to. This is like an extension of her THE COLLECTION album. There really wasn't a need for this album but it's nice to have just because it's different songs in different order.

This is a collection of songs from a bunch of Amy's albums. The thing I didn't like about it is that each of Amy's albums, at least in my own mind, has its own mood associated with it (usually corresponding to her age, from 17-42 I think) and associated degree of spiritual maturity and worship. This album seemed, at least to me, to haphazardly group them together. For example, "Doubly Good To You" and "Sing your praise to the Lord" are two entirely different songs but are right next to each other. It might be good for someone not so familiar with Amy's inspirational music, but I don't like it so much. I don't think it's worth getting if you already own the other CDs.

Still the "old" classics,
This review is from: Her Greatest Inspirational Songs (Audio CD)
As other reviewers have noted, if you're new to Amy Grant, this is a perfect CD. Most of my favourite pieces from her early years are here.On the other hand, if you are a die hard Amy fan and have all her earlier CD's, definitely skip this one. There is nothing new here. I mistakenly thought she had re-recorded her old hits in her new, more mature voice, but it's just cuts from her old CD's. I didn't need one more "old" Amy Grant CD; my shelf is full of them. So, a great compilation of old hits for those getting acquainted with the young Amy (which I recommend!), but old hat if you caught on 20 years ago.

Still, not a bad lineup at all! If you're only familiar with the bouncy pop and Mrs. Vince Gill era stuff (not that there is anything wrong with that), this is a side of Amy Grant you'll be pleased to discover. The CD borrows a lot from Amy's early albums which, like many artists' early releases, contains a raw, hungry, stripped down, enthusiastic, I-can't-beleive-I'm-making-a-record-I'm-having-so-much-fun spirit that makes every song worth discovering or discovering again.

I got this CD last week and overall I like it. Sure there is no news songs on it but since it is a Greatest hits cd from Amys early years I did not expect there to be. All the songs have been remastered and sound better then the original versions of them. In the CD book there is a 4 page biography of Amys career which is also pretty cool. I say if you are a diehard fan get it to have all of Amys albums, and if you are a new fan this is a GREAT place to start!!

When an artist releases a compilation album, it's not only another way for them to make a buck, but an exciting new step in their career as well. A greatest hits album could introduce a new fan to an artist's full work. Such is the case with Amy Grant. When THE COLLECTION came out in 1986, it not only offered Amy's entire career on one album, but two new songs and a medley EP as well. It has been a constant favorite. But this is not the case with HER GREATEST INSPIRATIONAL SONGS. Sure, it has great songs on it, but most longtime fans of Amy Grant have heard those songs multiple times. Another CD being released with those same songs is just another boring compilation release competing for shelf space with more compilations. If you ask me, RCA should've instead taken all of Amy's 1977-1985 non-singles, remaster them, and released them on a CD. That way, everyone could see what the real, Amy Grant was/is like, instead of the commercial Amy Grant. (Not to say that the songs on this CD are too commercial, which most of them are not). If you want to hear Amy Grant music that's been heard countless times over and over, be my guest.

This is the type of album that leaves me singing the tunes after I finished listening to it.

Amy has been around for many years now... she has inspired people to seek within themselves... she has taught us about life, God, and love. Please know that this music is from the very beginning of her career. It has the sound of 70s and 80s because that is when she released these songs. Open your heart and your soul to what she is saying in this music.

Over the years Amy Grant has been one of the most inspirational artists around. I love this album its a great collection of all her previous works, and best part is that it all sounds 100 times better than when they first came out. I heard her new album "Legacy..hymns & faith" off her official site, and if your in search of something trully inspirational I would suggest you get it...its really great!
