Double Your Reading Pleasure!,

This review is from: Her Kind Of Hero: The Last Mercenary\Matt Caldwell: Texas Tycoon (Paperback)
The Last Mercenery - I haven't read the books of Diana Palmer's series 'Long Tall Texans' in order. I first saw Callie and Micah mentioned in'Boss Man' and wanted to read their story. So I was very happy when this was re-issued.
Micah is another of Diana Palmer's Alpha Male heroes - strong, elusive, in a dangerous profession, and hiding his true feelings in regards to Callie. It's not until Callie is placed in danger by an enemy of Micah's, that he can admit to himself just how much she means to him. He saves her from his enemy and whisks her away to his private island, where he protects her, seduces her and falls in love with her. When the threat is over, Callie returns to Jacobsville (who knew such a little town would have so much happening!), with Micah following soon after, and admitting his feelings for her. Callie is another beautifully written heroine from Diana Palmer. Of course, she's in love with Micah, but never imagined that he felt the same way. In fact, she thought he hated her. Its not until she's in danger and he rescues her that she wonders if there's more to Micah that his dislike of her. Micah and Callie are a beautifully written couple. The story is pure Diana Palmer - page turning good. Matt Caldwell: Texas Tycoon - My first introduction to Matt and Leslie was in the story 'Lawless' and I'm glad I finally got the chance to read their story. Leslie is running from her past. Her mother killed a man and shot her daughter when Leslie was 17. Hoping to live a quiet life, Leslie moves on, but several years later, she's hounded by an energetic, career climbing reporter, determined to make a movie out of her life. It's how she ends up working for Matts younger cousin at Matts company. Her first meeting with Matt doesn't go well. He makes her so nervous, she falls off a horse, making the injury she received from the gunshot wound worse. Matt is furious. He cant believe it when she flinches away from him, and turns to his cousin. Matt is sure that Leslie is hiding something, and he's determined to find out what. Leslie is just as determined not to tell him. Amongst believing lies told to him by another woman, accusing Leslie of going after him or his cousin for money and then finding out the truth about Leslie, Matt falls in love with her, not admitting it until she's about to leave town, leave him. This book is very good, one of Diana Palmer's best. The interactions between Matt and Leslie are well crafted. The story is intriguing and I couldn't put this one down until I'd read the very last page. Diana Palmer's formula for romance is very simple. I enjoy reading anything she writers, without exception and I always know I'm in for a good read whenever I pick up a Diana Palmer book. These 2 stories are no excpetion.

Definitely a good read - highly recommend. I have been on a Diana Palmer kick lately, and this book does not disappoint. The women are both good characters, not too weak as some tend to say in the other books. But the men are amazing. Hard to put this book down

i have read all of the series of the mercenarys story lines and fell in love with this story line of all. it is so addicting to read this book i started reading this book and i couln"dt put it down . it is so cute from the beginning to the end, callie keeps micah on his tip toes steady.she is so innocent about everything, that she just catches this big tough mercenary and puts him on his knees.very good book diane , i also loved fearless, he was also so tough.

I really enjoyed both stories in this book. Micah and Callie were a good couple. I know some people complain in their reviews about the heroines being innocent and the heroes being too overbearing, but this is a combination that I happen to like. I also enjoyed reading Matt and Leslie's story. This was a good combo book. Sometimes they package two stories together and one isn't as enjoyable as the other.
This happens to be one that has two good stories in it. Sometimes they also repackage titles in different combinations so that you get duplicates without realizing it. As far as I know, this is not one of those.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I think the couples are very well written and seem to mesh well together. There is some of the Alpha male egos but not to the extreme as they are in her latest books. The women actually have a little bit of a backbone, funny and even a little witty. It was such a nice change to read something of DP's that could make me laugh and then get a little misty eyed. This is the writing I love, not the crap that coming out lately.

Definitely a winner,
This review is from: Her Kind Of Hero: The Last Mercenary\Matt Caldwell: Texas Tycoon (Paperback)
I bought this book to read "The Last Mercenary" & I think it's the better of the two stories. I'd seen Micah & Callie mentioned in other Palmer novels & they appear in a couple I've read. The story is well-written & easy to read. The action & the romance/love scenes are intriguing, making this one a page-turner. I love the name "Micah Steele"--it's perfect for a mercenary, very macho-sounding & to tell the truth, that's what drew me to the story.
"Matt Caldwell, Texas Tycoon" is a good story as well but I didn't like Matt @ first because of the way he treated Leslie. The way he reacted & the way his behavior changed when he learned the truth about her past endeared him to me, however & I can recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the author or the genre.
