Raised on Hawaii, Malia Martin grew up listening to stories rich in culture and history. From the moment she could read and write she has been doing both in great abundance. She majored in English just so she could read her way through college. And she married a man who loves to cook and can do his own ironing so she could spend every spare moment writing. When the children came she found that the hours she spent pushing swings, watching ballet classes and driving carpools lent themselves marvelously well to plotting.
Malia now lives in California with her three small children and extremely supportive husband. When she is not reading, writing or plotting, she loves to ski, play tennis and take her children to the beach. Visit Malia's website at Malia.com.

A fabulously fresh, innovative romance,
By A Customer
This review is from: Her Norman Conqueror (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a touching, heart warming story with a suspenseful plot, a strong heroine and a hero to die for. Malia Martin is clearly destined to be a powerful new voice in historical romance. I can't wait to read her next book.

Good Norman /Saxon romance,
By A Customer
This review is from: Her Norman Conqueror (Mass Market Paperback)
William and his horde of Normans are threatening to invade England. To strengthen his support, the Saxon King Harold demands Lady Aleene marry Aethregard, her stepbrother, so that a male rules the keep she inherited from her mother. Instead, the defiant Aleene decides to wed a lowly moronic poacher, who she dubs as Lord Cynewolf. Unbeknownst to Aleene and her shocked people, the poacher is actually a Norman spy, Robert de Guise. By her impetuous act to remain free of male control, Aleene has handed over herself and her keep to an even greater enemy than her stepbrother. A Norman now owns her estate and her heart. Most readers dread another novel that takes place in 1066-1067 England because it seems that setting has been done so often, it could fill a library by itself. Surprisingly, Malia Martin breaths fresh life into the period due to the changing interrelationship between the two lead protagonists. Though the story line is crisp, it is the Aleene-Cynewolf/Robert interactions (especially her decision to marry and their wedding night) that steal the show. HER NORMAN CONQUEROR will vanquish any doubts that the invasion era could have a new and unique plot for historical romance readers Harriet Klausner

I couldn't put this one down!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Her Norman Conqueror (Mass Market Paperback)
I didn't expect to like this book, but I ended up LOVING it. It's a facinating story touching on the Battle of Hastings, and threading in the tale of a Norman hero and his Saxon lady-wife. But it's not the same old story; and it's not supposed to be a historical novel, per se. It's a romance, which reads like a romance!! Powerful, emotional, funny in places and complete with three-dimensional characters. The writing style is also surprisingly wonderful. Try it. You'll love it!!
