5.0 out of 5 stars Wynonna Rocks
Wynonna simply rocks on this cd. She shines in songs like I want to Know What Love Is one of my all time favorite Forigner songs. She shows how she can rock on Melissa Etheridge's I'm The Only One. I have been a fan of hers since her self titled Wynonna album and have recently gotten my partner into her also I'm waiting for the dvd in the mail now.

If you don't mind several screaming, whooping women in the front rows intruding on the music at almost every turn, this one's for you. I found the audience sounds so obnoxious and downright loud, it made it hard to get through this CD. The crowd doesn't even shut up during the ballads, ruining the most intimate moments. 5.0 out of 5 stars Wynonna live--Worth the Money, September 30, 2005
This review is from: Her Story: Scenes From a Lifetime (Audio CD)
What makes this live disc 'new' and worth buying is that Wynonna, in addition to performing her hits from her solo career and stint with The Judds, also covers tunes by artists that were strong influences in her own life, personally and professionally. What this means for you, the audience, is that you get to hear her strong, lush vocals (among the best there is, I'd say) tacked onto some of the strongest and rather unlikely material (Simply the Best, I'm the Only One, Shining Star--all very un-country, yet stellar none-the-less). She's always excelled in myriad of musical genres. I'm not one of those stalwarts demanding that she stick to traditional country music. I vote for diversity. If the vocals fit (and boy do they ever!), throw down and throw hard.

For those who own previous albums by the artist, you may be interested in some of the new & refreshing takes on old hits like 'No One Else on Earth' and 'That Was Yesterday'.

Finally, this CD contains Wynonna's new radio single, 'Attitude'. She co-wrote the song and it features fiery vocals that are busting out of the box, so to speak. Previous recordings have been rather tame, and it was only in concert that you got to truly hear WHY Wynonna had been branded, "the voice of a generation." Kudos to bustin' a gut in the studio...on the record.

5.0 out of 5 stars 20 Years and still going on strong, October 11, 2005
This review is from: Her Story: Scenes From a Lifetime (Audio CD)
Wynonna's live album is a treat for listeners. This two disc live set chronicles her journey of 20 years in country music. From early hits as a member of the Judds, to her solo hits, to inspired covers, Wynonna does it all! It's great to hear her fine voice as usual, but it's also nice to hear the intimate stories she tells between songs. The stories are personal and the music is passionate. Highlights include cover songs like "I'm The Only One", "The Best", and classic hits like "Is It Over Yet", "Love Is Alive", "To Be Loved By You", etc. Also is a new track she wrote with John Rich called "Attitude". Great live set!

This review is from: Her Story: Scenes From a Lifetime (Audio CD)
I have been a fan of Wynonna Judd for 20 years. This album has been worth the wait. I love her interaction with each song. I especially love when she does " I Can Only Imagine","Simply The Best" and "Peace In This House". She may not ever know this but she is my SHERO!!

Worth the money - not just another 'best of' CD. Wy has one of the best/strongest voices in country music! This CD shows the true dimesion and strength in her voice. Total Wynonna attitude shows through in each song. I love her new interpretations on some of her older songs. Listening to the CD reminds me of being at one of her concerts. Truely entertaining!

I love Wynonna's singing, and there are some fine performances here, and many great songs, but this is the worst engineered live album I've ever heard (although audience noise is inevitable and even welcome, as part of the listening experience, here it is almost as loud as the music - not good). Maybe the DVD would have been the way to go; the CD was a huge disappointment, as far as pure listening pleasure is concerned. I doubt if I will ever play this CD straight through a second time, and that's a pity. If you're a big fan of Wynonna, as I am, consider yourself warned!

I regret this purchase. Wynona talks before every song for a minute or longer. I would never
recommend this cd.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wynonna, October 7, 2011
This review is from: Her Story: Scenes From a Lifetime (Audio CD)
As far as live albums go, this one isn't bad once it picks up. The Judds tracks, mainly tracks 1-7 are performed with minimal instrumentation, which is too bad. These songs could have benefited, and really needed a little extra punch. Wynonna's big, booming voice drowns them out.

Things get better starting with "Tell Me Why." Wynonna definitely has the goods to deliver fresh live renditions of her solo material. However, too much unnecessary stage patter infuriates the listener. Her self-congratulatory stance gets to be a little too much at times. Worse though, is the audience applause. This audience just won't STFU even when Wynonna (laughably) tells them to. Verdict: don't rely on this for Judds songs, and get this only if you are a Wynonna completist. Otherwise, her studio solo material and The Judds solo albums will suffice.
