5.0 out of 5 stars Theologians, Artists and Geneologist's delight!, August 11, 2000

This review is from: Heraldry in the Episcopal Church: How ecclesiastical coats of arms depict the history of the church (Paperback)
Whether you want to find out what a certain church or Diocese uses, the history and use, or how to design your own heraldry, this book has it all. Mr. De Kay has filled this book with an extensive collection of coat of arms and seals used within the Episcopal church. The book starts with Emporer Constantine I, and quickly goes through the major styles of Roman Catholic and Anglican heraldry to the Episcopal Church. Each emblem is clearly shown, along with a detailed explanation of the design, use and history of each piece. As an added touch, the seals and logos of ecumenical religious groups are also included at the end.
The book is captivating and makes you want to pick it up again and again. If you or a friend is any combination of Episcopalian, historian, theologian, artist or geneologist you'll want this book as it will make a wonderful gift!
