How dry are your herbs...,

This handbook does give much information for those who want to not only dry herbs but some flowers too. There are directions in here for example on how to dry carnations and Queen Anne's Lace. There is a section of some nice colorful pictures, however, the identifications do not come until a few pages later. The illustrations of the herbs are done in black and white line drawings, which look nice, but it would be difficult to identify an unknown herb by them. Six methods to dry herbs are explained and a basic list of tools needed is made clear. The lists of herbs has a page devoted to each where a little bit about the herb is detailed as well as the harvesting and drying and craft and uses in cooking suggestions. Strangely missing is oregano. There is an index to common and botanical names, as well as to pages in the book. There is much information in here that would be useful to someone who wished to dry herbs or even other small plants.

This is a nice book for someone like me who is a want-to-be herb dryer. It is interesting reading as it included herbs I would not have even thought about drying. I liked the idea of using the microwave for drying rather than a drying rack because I don't have a good area to place one.
