Consice and helps reader take the next step.,

I love this little book. I love Ellen's writing style that is very humorous and personable while still being informational and matter of fact. The author includes some concise content that is useful such as information on moon phases, how to choose the best plants for growing in your region, as well as alternative sources and uses for herbs if you cannot grow your own plants. This book is a complete beginners guide to tell you how to work with herbs in general. Its strong point is that is is not a herb encyclopedia. After reading this book you are ready to take the next step. Which isnt that the goal of a beginner level book? I feel a great companion to this book would be Cunnningham's Encyclopedia of Herbs.

good basic tips,
This review is from: Herb Magic for Beginners (For Beginners (Llewellyn's)) (Paperback)
Very good tips for anyone - beginner or more advanced. The book is set out so you can go to just one section or another, find what you're looking for and not have to read pages and pages of theory and background. The first few pages alone will set you up with a basic knowledge of moon cycles, candle colors that associate with each day and planetary influences of each day of the week.

the begin, what is magic book. amazin! excellent!,
This review is from: Herb Magic for Beginners (For Beginners (Llewellyn's)) (Paperback)
I'm getting initiated in to the wonderful world of magic. magic has come to my life to fill a big gap and sadness that felt overwhelming. after reading some books by Scott Cunningham, etc i really didn't know how to make the magic rituals, i was clueless. some books just doesn't have the proper structure or organization until i read Dugan's herb magic. it was like an "aha" moment, this is how it is! she tells you the correspondence of colors and their influences, the influence of the days of the weeks and that Friday is the best day for love rituals, that the moon is a key player in giving the right energy depending on what phase is in, the circle, cleansing, ect. excellent book. for someone that is starting on magic this is the book or if you already know about it this is a big refresher. These are my recommendations in order to learn magic: herb magic for beginners by Dugan, moon spells how to use the phases of the moon to get what you want by Diane Ahlquist, then any Scott Cunningham book starting with wicca a guide for the solitary practitioner and so on.

HERB MAGIC FOR BEGINNERS by Ellen Duggan is a breath of fresh air.
It is not often that you open a book and have the author speak to you, but with this lovely little work, that is what happens. Within a page or two, you find yourself sitting back comfortably with Ellen and taking in her love for the living planet. You can hear her chuckle as she wanders through the many years of knowledge she has aquired on this very pertinent journey. I bought this book because it came on a list with Scott Cunninghams works and so it should. Two wonderful artists who are both able to bring you into there works and pass on their knowledge.

Great for Beginners,
This review is from: Herb Magic for Beginners (For Beginners (Llewellyn's)) (Paperback)
This is a great book, but please note, its really a truly beginners guide book only. The author goes on to make many reference to very basic and common herbs as well as various correspondence.
