This stuff is awesome. The bottle says you can take 40 drops two or three times a day, but I take 30 drops before bed every night and have been having super lucid dreams that go on all night, so that when I wake up, I actually feel like I went on a little 8-hour vacation. The best/worst part about it is that you sleep so well that when you wake up, you're UP. I find that increasing from 20-30 drops kept me asleep 7 hours, whereas 20 drop knocked me out for just four or five hours.

Even better, this stuff won't make you dopey. It's not like taking a swig of Nyquil and passing out. It will make you feel more relaxed and comfortable so that you can sleep, and then when you're asleep, you'll keep that REM sleep a whole lot longer.

LOVE this stuff.

Like many people who have recently ordered California poppy products, I also heard from Dr. Oz that poppy was a great pain relief medicine. Some have even made the bold claim that it is, in effect, about as effective as certain narcotic painkillers prescribed by doctors for moderate to severe pain. But is it really? From what I've experienced the answer is a definite 'No'.

While poppies in general do carry many of the alkaloids used in narcotics, whatever is in this extract is certainly nowhere near as strong as claimed by others . Having been a long time sufferer of lower back pain due to a spinal cord injury, I had hoped that such claims were true. I ordered this product on the off chance that it could be used in the same way I sometimes use tylenol or prescribed painkillers, but after using the product I can say that whatever painkilling qualities this product has are mild to say the least.

It should be obvious even to casual consumers and people seeking pain relief that IF this product was truly as effective as Dr. Oz claimed, it would probably be a controlled substance. My only guess is that Oz knows this, and is hoping that "addicts" will turn to a healthier, more "natural" way of treating their pain. Either that, or this product simply is not what Dr. Oz is talking about. It's unclear whether or not Oz was talking about extracts like this, or the actual seeds from the California poppy.

The issue I have with such false claims is that people in real pain may try this, trusting Dr. Oz, and find it ineffective; at the same time assuming that prescribed painkillers might not help either. To anyone in actual pain, I can say that it is up to them to make the choice whether or not to try potentially addictive painkillers over other over-the-counter remedies.

I'm bipolar with high anxieties and I take this when I need to calm down quickly. It tastes awful but gets the job done. Sometimes it makes me sleepy other times its just calming.

I have definitely noticed a difference in the lucidity and vividness of my dreams since beginning the poppy extract drops about 3 months ago. I'm able to recall them more easily and they are more tangible and detailed than they've been in the past. My only downfall is how much of the stuff you have to take in order for it to work. I take about 35 drops per night. The bottle goes pretty quickly and the price does add up so that's a bit of a downfall.

In the last month I got a recommendation from a friend for another supplement known for it's ability to increase dream lucidity called Galantamine- Galantamine Capsules 90 8mg Caps. A little google research and I learned that it was safe to take both of these supplements at once. My first night I noticed a major difference. I was more relaxed upon sleeping and my dreams were even more intense and realistic. Taking the pills with the poppy extract has enhanced the effects and also reduced the amount of extract I need each day, therefore stretching out my dollars a little better!

Using about twenty drops mixed with water before bed helps relieve my back pain and when I get up in the night, I now go back to sleep without lying in bed and thinking about everything under the sun, or moon.

Unfortunately, this product didn't work for me at all! I had heard what a great, natural pain reliever it was on Dr. Oz, so I had high hopes it would aid my arthritis pain. Too bad :(

First off - if you decide to buy this product, be aware that there are 3 different sellers offering California Poppy Extract on Amazon. You can save yourself a few dollars on your order by picking the lowest price vendor.

I puchased this product on the claims that it would help me sleep more deeply and to enter some very vivid (potentially even lucid) dream states. The fact that it was also touted as a painkiller was an added bonus, as I suffer chronic knee pain. After trying doses of anywhere from 20 to 60 drops prior to bed time, I think I may have felt slightly more relaxed, but I did not have noticeably more vivid dreams. Furthermore, I didn't feel any impact on my mild insomnia. I slept just as restlessly and still found myself waking frequently throughout the night.

As for eliminating pain, I also felt no improvement while using this product.

I'm a high-energy person, and have had trouble sleeping a consistent 6-8hr night for many years now. Through those years, I've tried everything from Tylenol PM to Ambien to working out to Melatonin, and everything in between.

I actually settled about two years ago on Natrol Melatonin 5mg, 60 Tablets (Pack of 3), but hit a point where I was either going to start taking 10mg a night or I needed to find an alternative to give myself a break from the Melatonin. I looked over the reviews from this product, and decided to give it a go!

I ran through the first few nights on this without any trouble, but started having some pretty lucid dreams thereafter, so for those that don't appreciate dreaming you might steer clear of this product. As far as the sleep goes though, this managed to knock me down each night about 30 minutes after ingesting, and kept me down for a solid 6 hours - at the recommended dose. That's really standard for a good night of sleep in my arena, so I was happy, and have been happy to use this when I feel I need a break from the Melatonin.

Good product. Don't overdo it though, as that gave me a bit of a hang-over feeling the next day - nothing serious though.
