A Book that is truly THE benchmark,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Herbal or General History of Plants (Deluxe Clothbound Edition) (Hardcover)
This book - the 1633 revision of the 1597 "classic" - is truly THE benchmark for any herbal to follow. With almost 3000 listings and about 2700 illustrations, it is far closer to "complete" than any work I have yet seen under 1 cover! It lists under botanical, Latin, folk and English names. Obviously a life's work. A pleasure to behold, all 10 pounds of it!

This review is from: The Herbal or General History of Plants (Deluxe Clothbound Edition) (Hardcover)
This book is an unbelievable find! As a studying and practicing Herbalist this book was recommended by a friend and it is amazing. It is the Deluxe edition so it will last for many many years to come. There are 2 negatives with this book, if you can call them that. 1) The book is very heavy. This is not for the light reader to take and go to from place to places as a "carry around book". It is very large, and can be placed on a book or laptop stand and use it for reference. 2) The other is that it is in Olde English.. The ff in the book basically are in place of ss that we use today. It took me a bit to figure it out but I finally did. This book has a wealth of info and is very informative for plant knowledge. I highly recommend this book to a collector or learner in the Herbal field. Not a disappointment!
