I don't know much about incense. This is the first one I've used that was of a higher quality. But I can tell you that it produces very little smoke when compared to the type you get at places like Earthbound. It has a very woody smell, kind of like a burning fireplace, but of a more pleasant smelling wood and much cleaner and less harsh, if that makes sense. It is fairly strong, but not at all overpowering. There is a very light sweetness to it as well. It also has a complexity that I'm only beginning to notice. Every time I walk into the room that I burned it in I notice more depth to it (It lingers in a room for quite some time after it's done burning). I may come back and update my review when I have more experience.

Two things of note:
1. Unlike many incense that I've seen, it doesn't have a "Handle." I'm not sure of the proper term, but the part of the incense stick that has no resin on it so you can poke it into a holder. If your incense burner is designed with thin holes and no way to accommodate this, it may give you trouble. I solved this by making a makeshift burner out of aluminum foil that worked well enough.
2.There is another version of this incense sold by Bosen that's thicker at 4mm. I haven't tried it, but the fellow at the Olfactory Rescue Blog has said that this makes it sweeter and have more of an impact, so if you have the cash, you may consider buying that one instead, though it's a little over twice as expensive. As a plus, though, it burns for 100 minutes a stick instead of 50 like this one.

Overall, it served my purposes very well. I meditated with it and the scent kept my mind focused, reminding me of my goal with each inhalation. It's strong enough for staying power, and doesn't seem to give you too much scent fatigue, yet it also isn't overpowering so you can meditate for a good while without having to worry about getting tired of the smell. It has made my meditation sessions very enjoyable!

Robust, clean incense that I will definitely purchase again. Make sure you have an incense holder that can hold the sticks however - they are very thick.
