5.0 out of 5 stars A Beginning Gardener's Opinion
This is one of the most informative books I have read on the subject of herb gardening. I found the book difficult to put down. It includes extensive descriptions of individual herbs from the most ordinary to the hard-to-find. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the book are the recipes for herbal tea blends and corresponding health benefits, which are listed...

1.0 out of 5 stars New Age Tripe
This book is yet another New Age feel good title with virtually no foundation in reality. In this case, virtually no foundation in the subject of gardening or medicine / home remedies. The author is light and whimsical, giving common sense advice with the tone of a sage. On gardening, there is nothing new and not a thing that your local nursery wouldn't be able to...

This is one of the most informative books I have read on the subject of herb gardening. I found the book difficult to put down. It includes extensive descriptions of individual herbs from the most ordinary to the hard-to-find. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the book are the recipes for herbal tea blends and corresponding health benefits, which are listed thoughout the book. Also included are garden plans, propagation methods, and harvesting tips. I highly recommend this book as a reference guide for the beginner or the seasoned gardener.

This books is all you'll need if you want to grow herbs. I love the great recipes for teas and herb sugars. The many detailed garden plans are the best part of the book and they're laid out simply with common herbs. I wish I'd gotten this pretty little tome years ago before I planted my first cutting of Mint!

This is the first time I have tried to grow an herb garden. This book has been the most helpful out of all the books I found for information. It has been helpful me through about 50 different herbs, how to grow them, and take care of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Enlightening, July 14, 2011
This review is from: Herbal Tea Gardens: 22 Plans for Your Enjoyment & Well-Being (Paperback)
This book is wonderful for the beginner and intermediate tea drinker. Listing plenty of of useful facts about many varieties of herbs, Taste, Care, Parts Used, Soil, Sun Exposure, and How to brew the herb into a tea. There are neat recipes on "almost" each page that uses the particular herb in question. I have brewed many of these, and the most interesting one so far is the extremely easy method to make ginger syrup (for homemade ginger ale)! I took this into the local tea shop, and even they commented on usefulness of the herb information. I don't plan to make an herb garden, so the last half of the book is irrelevant to myself. But in that section it shows multiple ways to propagate the herbs, transplant them and basic pests to be aware of. I found this book delightful in the simplicity of use and enjoyable to read.

The author is light and whimsical, giving common sense advice with the tone of a sage. On gardening, there is nothing new and not a thing that your local nursery wouldn't be able to advise. Heck, there is more information on the back of seed packages. On herbal remedies, not only are most of them lame they might be dangerous depending on your allergies.
