5.0 out of 5 stars A Useful Primer for Beginners January 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I already own several herb books, but I bought this one because I loved the title. I wish I would have bought it as my first herb book, as the author removes anything intimidating about working with herbs. I've had to "weed" through other books that were aimed more at aspiring herbalists rather than those of us who just want to know what herb to use for which condition. Others were too esoteric for my taste. Herbs Gone Wild! works for those of us who want practical, easy-to-use remedies.

5.0 out of 5 stars An informative and engaging must-have September 27, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
So here's the thing: I'm not a non-fiction reader. I read mainly for enjoyment, and only pick up non-fiction books when I'm looking for important information. That important information is EXACTLY why I started reading Herbs Gone Wild -- because I knew that cold and flu season was coming up, and I wanted to "arm" myself in advance for the onslaught. Imagine my surprise when I couldn't put it down! Diane Kidman's use of wry humor and engaging storytelling make this valuable resource a quick read. And the information it contains is nothing short of miraculous. I've already made a batch of cherry cough syrup, and have several other recipes bookmarked for the upcoming sniffle season. You can't go wrong with this book -- it's an informative and engaging must-have.

5.0 out of 5 stars love iy January 1, 2012

This book is one of the best herb books I have read. Very simple and straight forward. I fell as though I can actually make the tincture and salve, where as other books describe it in a complex way.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but not that practical October 28, 2012

I found this to be an intersting read but realized that for me these remedies and such are not practical. I feel like I need a house in the country with a huge herb garden to use any of this. Buying these herbs online or in New Age shops can be expensive and time consuming. Not a total waste of time...but not practical at this time either.

5.0 out of 5 stars absolutely loved it! April 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is very interesting and informative. I just finished it, and haven't had the opportunity to use much of the remedies, but last night my two year old woke up coughing and coughing and I had JUST been reading about cough remedies, so I tried some, and it worked! So fun to use something you never knew or thought of before and have it go on your list of things to try again.

I enjoyed the section on making your own tinctures and salves especially.
Many books go into great detail about each step, and it seems like it would take SO long, I get discouraged about trying things, but this sounds easy and like I can just throw it together and get on with my life.

I will enjoy using this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Info March 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love to gather old remedies and cures, a number of which had been passed down from family. This book had a couple of those, with clarifications, but also a number of new ideas to try. Specifically, the cayenne pepper and olive oil remedy was incredibly successful.
The book is an easy read, not preachy, and funny.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beginner book February 13, 2013

This is a good beginner's book on herbs. Nicely done, but I guess I thought there would be more. More how-to, more what works, more.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have. January 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you're one of those people who suffers from constant sickness in the winter (or even if not) this is an absolute must have. It's saved me countless trips to the doctor for pills I'd have been reluctant to take in the first place. Just for an example: I end up with bronchitis and a lovely case of chest congestion at least six times per winter season. Every year I've muddled through, meds take ages to work. I used the simple cooked onions on the chest trick in this book (put a heating pad over it to keep it warm longer..not really reccomended as I imagine it's not too safe) ended up falling asleep for two hours. Woke up, absolutely no congestion and I had barely been able to breathe upon lying down. I'd have waited days for medication to work, as usual. If I could give this book a ten star review, it would have it. (I've used many other remedies as well, but that one was the kicker for me.)
