This webcam has been easy to use with both my PC and Mac. Just plug it in and go.

The picture quality is good, especially for the money. One thing to know that GREATLY IMPROVES picture quality is focusing the camera! This is not an autofocus camera, so you must turn the ring that is around the lens on the front of the camera.

I noticed that at short focal lengths, this camera is GREAT as a macro camera. It has been useful for showing documents while video conferencing with lab mates.

I had no trouble using this with iChat or Gmail. It's great if you have good lighting (a little dark if not, though). The built-in mic is great - no feedback with the speakers.

Nice webcam with good picture quality and light level adaptation; clip is useful and well constructed; cable is pretty long. Price is right. Most importantly, it works out of the box with Linux using the USB Video Class (luvc) module. Skype video also works. Great choice!

You get what you pay for. I needed an webcam to do a project on my mac and after doing some research it appears that webcams need to be UVC compatible in order to work with macs. Most webcams do not advertise that they are compatible with macs so finding one is not all that easy. (Check http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/cameras/index.php and search on UVC) Anyways, the image quality with this webcam is rather poor and it does not work well in low light conditions. I'd only buy this if you are looking for a cheap webcam.

As of this writing, Mac OS X 10.6.3 has a bug which causes the Hercules Dualpix Exchange and similar cameras to fail with Skype or other non-Apple applications. The camera works correctly in PhotoBooth and other standard Mac applications.

Various fixes have been reported on many message boards but they boil down to this: restore a copy of /System/Library/QuickTime/QuickTimeUSBVDCDigitizer.component from the Snow Leopard installation disk or from a backup prior to the 10.6.3 upgrade (that is, prior to March 28, 2010). Then reboot.

I did that and the camera worked as advertised.

Supposedly both Skype and Apple are working on a fix. With luck this warning will be obsolete after 10.6.4.

I got 3 day delivery via USPS and was extremely surprised and how easy this webcam was to install on Windows Vista, Mac Leopard and Snow Leopard, and also Linux Mint 8. No software was needed for either OS's since this is driver less UVC. Some reviewers complain that this Hercules webcam does not work with Mac, but it does. It was detected using iChat and Photo Booth. My intention was to use it with Skype on Mac Mini, Vista Desktop, and a camera less Linux laptop. It worked in all four applications. The picture quality is above average and so is the mic input. Very well pleased with this product.

It took me a short while to install the webcam and get it working right. That was my fault and not the cameras. It works great as does the built in mike. I set it up for Skype and have had no problems since then. It has been about a year and still no problems. Great product for the price and I highly recommend it.

I bought this webcam to use with my Xubuntu Linux laptop. I plugged it in (didn't even need the CD-ROM they include) and it just worked. Brilliant. :D

Package arrived as scheduled on time with no damage. Instructions were easy to follow. Camera works fine for my purpose. If you are looking for a basic webcam that operates with your desktop or laptop this one will do the job for you. The picture is sometimes a little grainy due to connection but overall a nice product for the money. I would recommend this item to anyone looking for a webcam at a reasonable price.

found a site which rated web cams for apple and ranked them by price , quality and ease of just plug and play w/apple-mac. choose the relative cheaper model as I wasn't going to use it much. overall I was very surprised at how good it was!
