5.0 out of 5 stars Good movie!, March 5, 2001
I just saw this movie for the first time. It has a good musical score, decent script and acting. Reeves is great in this role. He looks like a Greek God.For you guys attacking the acting skills and story plot, do you really think Arnold is a good actor and has mind dazzling plots? Let's get real already! This is actually two movies in one: first, the Labors of Hercules and his role as master of arms for the King of Jolco then the adventure of Jason and the Argonauts and the Quest for the Golden Fleece.Reeves outmuscles Kevin Sorbo by leaps and bounds and has a charisma better than Arnold. I became a fan of Reeves recently by reading his book; "Building the Classic Physique." As Hercules, Reeves displays the classic physique. Easy to see why he was a former Mr. America and Mr. Universe. And his book is great. I believe that this is the best natural bodybuilding, conditioning and toning book out there. Great for men and women. My Dad has been a big fan of Reeves for along time. Looking forward to seeing more of his movies. If you haven't watched Hercules with Steve Reeves, do, you'll love it just like I did.Good movie. Reeves is appealing to men and women alike, bodybuilders and the general public. It's easy to see why he was so popular in his day. I heard that President John F. Kennedy and Winston Churchill enjoyed his movies as well.I know I did. Watch it. You'll love it. And if you can get a copy, I recommend his great book "Build The Classic Physique"RIP MR. REEVES and thank you for leaving us your movies and your wisdom to inspire.

5.0 out of 5 stars The man who inspired Arnold and Sly, July 25, 2002
By A Customer
Don't look for any great story plots, any great acting in Hercules and Hercules Unchained. But then do any of thes movies have a great story? Hercules is my favorite of the two. Hercules Unchained has better quality cinematogrophy and even has Reeves in a love scene (as love scenes were allowed back in those days). Reeves appears stiff, but how man people know that in real life, Reeves was shy and timid? When he became a film star, he was nicknamed "Hollywoods quiet man." Reeves was one of two men to inspire Arnold (Ahhnold) (the other being Reg Park a 3 time Mr. Universe who made a few silly herc films in the 60's) to take up weight training and become an actor. Sylvestor Stallone also credits Reeves as an early inspiration and still has Reeves pictures in his gym.Hercules and Hercules Unchained are good, clean movies. Fun and well produced for the times. Remember these movies were made over 40 years ago. I recomend White Warrior not only for Reeves fans, but also because it is a good movie. Hopefully amazon will get Morgan the Pirate and Pirates of the 7 Seas starring Reeves and his picture, Long Road to Hell which is a Clint Eastwood type western.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reeves Is Not "Musclebound", December 22, 2001
By Damian & Trent (Pacific Northwest) - See all my reviews
I challenge Leonard Maltin's use of the term "musclebound" to describe Steve Reeves. That word means "stiff" or "rigid" due to some muscle-related problem. Reeves is most definitely NOT "musclebound". Maltin knows nothing about muscles. Reeves is built (!), aesthetic, athletic. This movie is meant to be fun, like a "comic" book, & Reeves is a terrific hero, with terrific muscles. He inspired many guys to get buff, way before "Ahnold" came along. Cool? Yes!
