I love my Hercules RMX, but as my shows are getting bigger I'm starting to produce some of my music and using more effects so I switched to the Steel. I love this mixer as I can program up to 12 effects and works great as a video mixer without paying the $6 grand for the pioneer. If I get that big, maybe I will cough up the money for the pioneer, for now this is under $250 and works great. I may one day get an effects controller to plug into my denon, for now this is the best of both worlds.

Great Basic Dj Midi Mixer, Not that cheep made. really great for heavy use

if your in2 Laptop djing this 1 is great.but still u will need to use an extra sound card if your PC or laptop sound card isn't 4.1 or above.

if you want a device with a sound card go with the upper model of the Hercules dj control its called Rmx. if your using other midi mixers or already have a sound card get this.

Not a bad MIDI controller I use it for mixing. It is build really soild and the carrying case is convinient. My only grip is that there are no specific buttons for looping. Also the virtual DJ software is really crappy.

I am in no way a professional DJ but I do take this to house parties all the time, I recommend this product to any one with an interest in djing. All buttons and knobs are built durable and programable, the jog wheels provide great resistance and it works greatly with virtual dj. Its steel exterior and well made buttons show me that this will last quite a long time, also great for beginners to learn how to use a mixer as it is completely programable so you can change the function of everything relatively easy on vdj. Great product especially for the price range, unfortunately you do need to buy an external soundcard but those can be pretty cheap within the 60-100 dollar price range. The bag is also a great bonus for easy transporting. GREAT MIXER

I don't know very much at all about DJ'ing, but picking up and going was a breeze with the Steel. Seemed very easy to understand how everything worked and how to get my feet wet. The control seems very rigid and durable. Ease of setup was very nice. Price comperable to others out there with similar features made this one a shoe in. I would definitely recommend the Steel to anyone looking to get a steal on intro DJ equipment. Good luck shopping :D

I've been a professional Dj for over 15 years and have a full custom console built that can handle anything and is completely high end.
What I was looking for and have been for years, is a small full featured controller that is portable, fits in my laptop bag and isn't or doesn't look like a toy. I wanted the RMX or Vestex but had driver issues with the RMX i tested and didn't like the vestex's feel or that it didn't work with the mac fully at the time...
I got the Steel as a xmas present and I was very happy that it works right out of the box and since I already have a USB sound card, it fits the bill because it just works with both Megaseg and Virtual DJ Pro (buy this software don't look for a hacked version that's not solid) Worth every penny and it's great for when inspiration strikes or for last minute gigs. I have a set of powered speakers that are always in my truck and I carry this and my laptop everywhere making it a perfect fit.
It is very responsive and with the right software you can customize how it is mapped to do whatever you want.

I am by no means a professional DJ, but I am striving to become one. I was told that the Hercules DJ Control Steel was the best one to get to start off with, and from what I can tell, even professionals use it around my area. It's very solid, and all the controls are intuitively placed. 6 buttons that can be shifted to give you a total of 12 function buttons. Sliders have notches so you can feel when they slide back into their default positions, and the buttons themselves light up bright enough to read the text under them, but not bright enough to blind you with. It does come with a case and a USB cable, but it does not have it's own sound card. If you're running off of a PC, this isn't too big of a deal. I did get a second external soundcard only to be able to use headphones to monitor.

The software that comes with the Hercules DJ Control Steel is not that great. I would definitely not recommend it to anyone even to learn with. I am currently using PCDJ, and it also allows for you to set what the "12" function buttons do.

I definitely recommend this to anyone regardless of current skill. Just toss out the CD after you get the drivers. :)

Need a MIDI controller? Get the Hercules Steel. End of story. Very sturdy, efficient and dependable.

Im guessing this the low end version. I recieved this product and sent it back the same day..Dont rack your brains with the in box instructions because you are going to have to call CS. The software for the Hercules lags so bad it isn't worth having period. To make a long review short, if you really want a dj console, you will have to spend a extra $100 or so for the Hercules console 4 mx which is intergrated and the software operates a 100% better...good luck

These guy are all pro I messed up the order and they helped me fix it then when i didnt get the order on time they helped me to track it down and figure out what was going on and E-mail me like so quick i recommened them to anyone thanks :)
