When your guitars absolutely positively need to stay put,

If you've used the small tubular "lean back" style guitar stands before, then you know about their shortcomings. For one, even with the guitar "strapped in", it's very easy to bump a guitar forward, causing the entire unit to tip over. This is even more of a problem in double guitar holders, where the guitars can't "lean" quite as much without bumping headstocks. Perhaps more importantly, the cheap stands use a type of plastic in the padding that can react with Nitrocellulose finishes, causing the lacquer to wear away.
The Hercules stands go about holding your guitar in a different way; by grabbing it at the headstock. The weight-driven head catches the guitar, bringing out two retaining fingers when pressed down. This should be sufficient to keep it from jumping out if bumped. The overall height of the stand is adjustable with a nice base-mounted grip, so you don't have to screw and unscrew an adjuster. There are horizontal bar pads at the bottom that keep the guitar from banging against the metal base, and also keep the guitar from "twisting" out of the claw. Despite its wide stance, it folds up just as quickly to about the size of a small microphone stand. The claws fold down, the bars fold up, and the entire unit collapses down. Lastly, I just want to point out how big the stand is. The three feet are very wide, which provides a solid base for what would otherwise be a very topheavy stand. Because the guitars hang straight up and down, it does not become lopsided or prone to tilt when holding only one guitar. I'm not willing to sacrifice a guitar for the sake of testing, but it seems like it would take a very big force to knock a stand like this over. The stand is very well thought out and nicely designed. It sets up much more quickly than the typical lean-back tubular frame style stand, and will hold your guitars much more securely.

This stand folds up well and takes very little space. It is made very solid and holds both guitars very well. I was very impressed and highly recommend it.

This stand is very well designed and well made. It's very sturdy; I put my "heavy" electric on it and played around; you'd really have to smack it hard at the top of the stand to topple the thing, even unbalanced with only one guitar on it. The stand's feet take up about a 2x2 foot square, you might need a bit more room if your guitars are very large. Sets up and folds down very quickly and easily. Putting your guitar in the stand is just like handing it to someone -- it's that quick and easy. I love it!

This stand is great! I love the Hercules clamp that locks your guitar from falling off... and the adjustable back rest is very flexible and can be used with just about any guitar. The stand is extremely sturdy as well! The price is a bit high, but it is definately worth it in my opinion!

It's worth the hype for sure. Much better than other stands I've used and breaks down nicely to fit into my gig bag (by gig bag I mean a drum hardware bag that I've re-purposed to carry all of my pedals, DI, microphones, etc.). The only downside I've found is what I mentioned in the review title...ouch!

I was very pleased with this stand.. it holds my wide-bodied acoustic and heavy Les Paul just fine, and doesn't wobble or tip over when one is removed. Automatic locking pins hold the next in place which is sweet.

This is my second stand and right out of the box I was impressed with the quality construction. This stand securely holds your guitars by their headstocks, and uses the weight of the guitars to secure them. This unit is very solid, constructed similar to something you would utilize for industrial use or with power tools. I'm very pleased. Well worth the cost.

A few years ago I picked up a Hercules single guitar stand and liked it so much that bought another two of them.
I own a few guitars (both Bass and Electric 6 String) and the double stand works perfect for everything I have. The adjustable height will easily accomodate anything from a Strat to a Rickenbacker Bass, and it takes up less space than two stands.

UNRELIABLE STANDS,
This review is from: Hercules GS422B A/G DUO Guitar Stand (Electronics)
I bought one and it fell apart. It looks solidly built but the plastics are rubbish outside looking good. The company was not so generous in support, they could only offer me an overpriced 'buy another one' as it was outside warranty...18-24 months old when it completely failed due to plastics.
