This bag is indeed large enough to accomplish the task! Mine holds my 17.3" HP Laptop, a 48 disc CD/DVD case, my Logitech V20 Notebook Speaker case in the inside compartment (separated from the laptop by a cloth divider) with room to spare. In the pocket with a Velcro flap over it, I keep my power adapter, numerous FireWire and USB cables, several Portable hard discs, a fold-able pair of good sized (but not huge) headphones, and in pockets that have Velcro flaps over them inside that pocket, I keep my wireless mouse and a USB dongle. And there is still room to spare! The bag is comfortable even with all of that weight thanks to a very nicely padded shoulder strap. Durability is not an issue as it uses the same cloth the military uses to make flak vests inside and out. With all of that room, this is still a very light bag compared to a similarly sized Targus.

My only frustration (and this is due to the nature of it being a messenger bag) is that I often wish I could access something in the accessory pocket without having to open the entire top flap (which is secured with two military grade webbing buckles). But having that top flap cover the accessory compartment also has its good points in that it provides extra security and protection to the contents of that pocket. On the issue of security, there is no way to lock this bag, so if that is an issue, this will not be the bag for you.

The bag looks a bit feminine at first (in my opinion), but after I get it fully loaded, that is not an issue!

I bought because of price, planning to get a "better" bag after some use of the 17" MacBook Pro on the road, a step up from a 15". It was the "default" bag. Knowing then what I know now I would buy it again. It is light, roomy, flexible and sturdy. A plus is it can carry a 17" computer and a portable scanner or 17" computer and a zippered "wallet" of 8 1/2 x 11 papers, eliminating a need for a second bag. I would easily carry a laptop and iPad, too. Demerits because the shoulder strap is sewn into the bag rather than running continuously around the bag and bottom of bag. (I've never found a computer bag that does this.). A second demerit because I'd prefer heavier, thicker padding in bottom of bag. What is there is standard but without feet on bottom edge I think more padding is a good idea. This bag is priced at what I feel bags should be priced for what they do.

I purchased this bag in order to carry my new HP G7 17.3" laptop. The bag is huge but when you slide the laptop into the case it's like the bag was made for the computer. It couldn't be a better fit. I won't be using it to carry to class but for the occasions when it needs to leave the house, I'll feel confident that it's well protected. Definitely plenty of room for a textbook or binder in the bag w/ the computer. Very high quality on the craftsmanship as well. This bag should last for years.

I bought this messenger bag to replace a similar bag that I had worn out after years of use. My old bag simply had a single large compartment under the flap, nothing fancy. I put my laptops in neoprene sleeves so I don't need any sort of padded "laptop slot" within the bag. This bag fills the bill, plus a bit. Has the one big compartment that my 16.4 inch new Sony VPCF112FX (in a Sony 16.4 inch neoprene sleeve) fits in perfectly with a little room to spare side to side.

Plenty of back-to-forward room in the compartment for power adapter, mouse, USB hub, etc. Plus unlike my old bag this one does have two sewn-in dividers in the back of the main compartment which can effectively separate the power adapter, etc from the laptop. Even has pockets sewn on the outer divider big enough for power adapter (which is enormous with the VPCF112 but will fit fine) and mouse.

Then there is the separate front pocket under the flap that so many messenger bags have these days for pens, pencils, and junk. I don't see the point in those, but at least this bag keeps that minimalist. One velcroed mesh pocket and a few pen loops. That pocket is big enough though to stuff a Wall Street Journal and a danish from the airport gift shop on the way to boarding a plane, which is what counts.

I *really* like the fact that the flap has two clips, one at each corner. Some designer in China gets a gold star for that! My old bag had two clips which ran over the front of the flap, so was better than most of the junky single-clip stuff sold in the big office store chains. Anyone who has used a messegner bag over a long period knows the corners of the flap flip/curl up over time with use. But not on this bad boy due to the corner-lock design.

One note. I first bought the 15 inch version of this bag because I actually believed the published internal dimensions. That bag is similar to this 17 incher, but DOES have an internal padded "laptop slot" - which I hate - and that slot significantly cuts down the interior dimensions from what is published. A 16.4 won't fit in the slot, nor will it even fit in the overall compartment. Amazon returns rock, though! And this bag is as published. If you have a 16.4 or 17 incher don't even think about the 15 inch bag. Get this one and put your lappy in a neoprene sleeve. If you do have a 15 incher like my old laptop, or 14 inch, or something even smaller where you can't read the lettering on the screen without glasses, that 15 inch bag would probably work just fine.

Just bought a 17" laptop PC and needed a good travel case. I'm retired so I don't travel with it; but, we own a boat and I wanted a case that would fit this large laptop, and offer maximum protection for carrying on/off the boat, and protection onboard when not in use.

This Hercules "Super Strong" bag fits the bill. Plenty of room for the PC, with pockets for devices, cords, files, pens, etc. Inside are actually two slip pockets: one for the PC, another for everything else. The PC pocket also has a separate netted pocket (I haven't figured out what that is for.) The other pocket has a fold-over flap cover. Inside are a section for files, small pockets for cords, pockets for pens, and plenty of space for all your other stuff. The two pockets are covered with another fold-over cover that extends to the bottom of the case and secures with two quick release snap latches. It's very secure and well padded. The carry strap is adjustable with a removable shoulder pad that is very comfortable. The only thing I miss is a handle on the top edge for a quick pick-up for short carries.

Besides the PC, I carry a portable mouse, USB devices, Palm device, memory sticks, my Kindle Reader, charger cords, pens, charts, and still there is plenty of room for paper files and stuff.

OK, I didn't do a lot of shopping for this; but, I did check-out Sam's and Best Buy. I saw nothing better made, most not as well made, and none a better value than this Hercules "Super Strong" at Amazon.

Awesome bag, love it! It is big but it is perfect for my 17.3" laptop and all of my accessories; which I have plenty of. It has 3 big pockets on the inside, I main flap for cords with another mesh covered pocket, and several more accessory pockets. Lots of padding too.

I love this bag. It's hard to find a 17in laptop bag cheaper than $60 that's actually worth anything. It doesn't feel cheap at all.

This is a great laptop bag. For the price you cant beat it! There is more then enough room for any accessories I have.

A couple of days after I got it I saw it started to rip by the handle. It is big enough for all my things. I dont think its worth buying!

My 17.3" Toshiba laptop fits nice and snug in the bag. The laptop seems very protected and the strap is very adjustable. Tons of room for accessories/movies/hard drives. 5/5!
