4.0 out of 5 stars Not your standard trance fare, but don't let that scare you., February 23, 2005

Kyau vs. Albert have a very unique trance style, as they can create some superb and very different sounding instrumental and vocal trance. Just listen to the many different styles found on here, from the female trance hit Not With You, to the resounding anthem Velvet Morning, to the male vocal stunner Made of Sun, to the very ecclectic instrumental Clarissa.

One noticeable variation on their vocal stuff is Albert does some of the vocals and he has a very "weird", nasal sounding voice. It can sound decent at times, but on the other hand can be a little off-putting. Save Me and Made of Sun sound really good as male vocal trance, however the vocals in Velvet Morning and Tell Me can get rather annoying. You kind of have to hear the tracks and his voice to see what I mean.

Now they can also bring in some great female vocalists like Damae (who sings a duo with Albert on the extremely rare original Velvet Morning that is not on this CD) and Julie, who sings the amazing vocal trance track, Not With You. The album version is great, but Ronski Speed's Vocal Mix is the clear winner, and it's one of my top 5 vocal trance tracks of the past year.

This album actually was originally released in Germany (on the Euphonic label) at least 6 months ago with a different bonus CD that contained two videos (one for Clarissa and one for Not With You) and the awesome Kyau vs. Albert Remix of AVB's Burned With Desire. Other than Burned With Desire and the videos, you get all the other tracks on the import bonus CD plus a few more bonus remixes only on the US version. You get the incredible KvA mix of Jump the Next Train by Young Parisians feat. Ben Lost. You also have to seek out the Probspot mix (found on Ben Lost's mix CD) and the best of the 3, Solar Stone remix, to get the trifecta of one of the best male vocal trance tracks of all time.

Kyau vs. Albert are working very hard on their own and on the remix side of some of the best trance currently out there. Their hard work shows in this above average artist album, which is basically a career's worth of their solo stuff right up to their current singles Falling Everywhere and Made of Sun.

Definitely a must have trance album for '05. You also should get their Positive Ways 4 mix CD which is out end of February, and includes some of the newest, hottest trance around!

4.0 out of 5 stars Creative artist album and good assortment of unmixed anthems to go with it!, October 3, 2005

"Here We Are Now" is a definite album that most trance fans will not want to miss out on. It features all of the hits thus far from the German duo, including Velvet Morning, Falling Anywhere and Made of Sun. The list does not stop there though, and as the listener progresses through the CD, they will begin to hear tracks that have potential not only as remixes, but as hits on their own. True, some of the tracks on Here We Are Now are a little too mellow to be deemed worthy of being club/radio hits, but they do indeed have their creative flair. The song structuring is a little untraditional in places, but it never does leave the realm of trance. Another plus is that the songs are a little mixed on the vocals, so the listener will be expecting to hear all female songs after the first one, but if they have not heard Velvet Morning, they are going to be in for a surprise.

The second disk of the album is arguably where the real treat begins. This bonus disk is an assortment of remixes of the songs on the album, plus a few hits by other groups that Kyau vs. Albert have remixed! This is a great find for fans who like to mix their own DJ comps, because all of the songs are completely unmixed and in their full form. Some of the remixes are also arguably better than the album versions (especially if you are a fan of the type of trance that makes you get up and move.)

Here We Are Now is a definite recommend for anyone seeking essential trance albums for 2005. While it does lose a star due to not having one remix of Velvet Morning (the Alto remix) and due to having some mellowness on certain tracks, it still stands out among the assortment of electronic artist albums floating around.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great CD, especially for DJs, June 1, 2005

This was a great CD. Although I didn't really care for the first disc much (not enough energy for me), the second disc made the CD. For some odd reason, Damae's vocals don't appear at all in any mixes of Velvet Morning, on either CD. Odd... Now I would've given this CD a 3, if it wasn't for the second disc. And yes, be at ease fellow DJs, the second CD is all full versions and unmixed ^_^

5.0 out of 5 stars "Easy Listening" Trance, January 3, 2007

I first heard this album on Paul van Dyk's Soundgarden show. I was pretty happy with the samples he played and decided to take a look myself. Some people may call the content "cheesy". I think that it's just some easy listening trance. The included bonus CD has some ok-quality remixes of some classic and newer tracks.

I would certainly recommend this album as an easy entry into electronic dance music. Certainly the tracks are of much higher quality that your DJ Sammy or other junk production. I am looking forward to getting Kyau & Alberts' next album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Trance, October 23, 2006
This review is from: Here We Are Now (Audio CD)
Im more about beauty than speed when it comes to trance. I tend to listen for emotion, melody, and creativity over anything else. "Here We Are Now" is my kind of trance. I consider it the kind of music that soothes the heart and can put a smile on your face. It is an album that follows the direction of Tiesto, Corsten, and Buuren very closely. That may be why you've heard "Falling Anywhere", "Velvet Morning", and "Made of Sun" before you've decided on this album. These tracks have been very useful in a plethra of known albums, and with plenty of good reason. Kyau and Albert create fascinating music embodied in beautiful and energetic rhythm. It is music that will touch you, and for any electronica lover I would highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice stuff, February 28, 2005
This review is from: Here We Are Now (Audio CD)
There is some really good traks on here. I own a few of them on vinyl and I defentlly throw them in my sets. IE; "Velvet morning" and "Not with you". The tunes of Velvet morning is undeniable. Its a beautiful song. With great vocals from Albert. Made of Sun also with great vocals from Albert is outstanding.

The cd is mixxed interestingly. Very progressive. Lots of peaks and Valleys. I myself would like to see some stronger buildups, but the quality of the songs that Kyau and Albert produce are top notch.
