5.0 out of 5 stars If you like Plankeye, you'll love these guys!, April 28, 1999

This review is from: Here Comes Fanmail (Audio CD)
If you think the vocals sound familiar, it's because they're done by Scott Silletta (former vocalist/guitarist from Plankeye). And yes they do cover the POLICE song, "Every Breath You Take," which was previously re-done by some rapper. This cd does rock, though. It's total power pop with noisy guitars and harmonized vocals. Kind of like a really poppy punk band.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fan e-mail..., May 28, 1999

I was going to hear MxPx and Fanmail and Shades Apart were opening for them. I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy the entire concert, beginning to end, song for song, every single band. These songs are smartly written and excellently executed. My favorites being Rock & Roll Star (which they appropriately opened the show with) and the Police remake of Every Breath You Take. I've heard many versions of this song, never coming close to the original, but somehow a punk twist is what the song truly needed. It reminded me of the Shades Apart version of Tainted Love awhile back and how good that one was. I'm saving my 5 star review for when Fanmail releases their full length release!

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD rips, May 2, 1999
This review is from: Here Comes Fanmail (Audio CD)
Get this: one night about 2 months ago, I heard "Every Breath You Take" by The Police on the radio. And I got to thinking how cool it would be if a punk band did a version of it. The next night I went to a concert where Fanmail was playing, who I had never heard of before. I knew the name, just not the sound. Well, they put on an AWESOME show, and what do ya know, the last song they played was a punk version of "Every Breath You Take". The boys read my mind, and they did NOT let me down. Their album rox, the music rox, and they rock as people as well. This is a definent must have for anyone with some taste and money.
