Beautiful, Sensitive and Unique Winter Story,
This review is from: Here Comes Jack Frost (Hardcover)
This is a bittersweet touching book about a boy's encounter with Jack Frost. For me it was about living in the moment and the fleeting joys of winter and ultimately, life. The illustrations are lovely and it makes for a quick read, nice for a goodnight story. It's a sweet, sensitive tale, and I think it would make a great Holiday gift.

Refreshingly beautiful, simple artwork and a lovely story. I also love Ghosts in the House! by the same author/illustrator Kazuno Kohara and I look forward to more of her books. This is a children's book, but of course the art can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Her art reminds me of Kiri-e, Japanese paper cutting, but I believe they are prints.

Wonderful Winter Story,

It's the illustrations that shine here- the simple artwork is very engaging and perfectly complements the magical little story of Jack Frost. It's the perfect book for the end of winter when everyone needs a reminder that Spring is just around the corner. I loved this authors book Ghosts in the House and this one is just as wonderful. It's great for group sharing; kids in my groups were full of questions about Jack Frost. A solid choice for post-holiday winter story times for preschoolers.

I absolutely love this book. Simple, short, and sweet. I gave this to a 3 year old boy whom I babysit, and he LOVES reading it with me. The pictures are beautiful, and it's fun to read together. I give this book along with this author's other book, "Ghosts in the House". I highly recommend this book.

I read a positive review of this book somewhere and bought it to read to my kindergarten class. The story is very sweet - about a visit from Jack Frost. And the pictures are visually appealing: stark blue and white tipped with silver - but beautiful and lacy, too. After reading it to my class, my students asked our school librarian to get several copies for our school.

Celebrate the first day of Winter by reading this delightful story about Jack Frost. What little kid wouldn't want to spend the winter playing with Jack Frost, skating on the ice, building snowmen and having snowball fights? That would have been a dream come true for my son. The little boy in this story really lucks out when he meets Jack Frost and is able to do all that with them. That is until Spring makes her first appearance. Once that happens, Jack Frost has to leave until next year.I love the simple illustrations and the way the blue & white colors brought the story to life. It provided a really inviting winter feel to it. The writing itself is very easy and I think those who are past beginner reader books will be able to sit and read this story by themselves. This is a book I'd recommend picking up. It's one that caught my eye at my son's most recent Scholastic Book Fair, and we've already enjoyed reading it a few times since bringing it home.

My daughter picked this book out from the library and I wasn't very excited about it but once we read it she insisted on having it read to her over and over. It has beautiful pictures in it. There is something about it that appeals to a little kid. It's one of those books that I wouldn't have thought she would like, but she ended up loving it.
