Nothing can prepare you for the wonderfulness of this album,
By William (Australia) - See all my reviews

An absolute classic, which seems unknown by so many. Nina presents a version of "Here Comes The Sun" in a way that makes it almost her own. A fine rendition of "Mr Bojangles" and "My Way" see this album make excellent music for an afternoon at home relaxing. I got to hear this album, by chance and it easily falls into my top ten albums of all time. i just wish I'd heard it years before. Buy this. The fact that it's nearly out of stock should tell you how good it is.

An album of excellent cover versions of classic songs. Each one interpreted with genuine heart felt delivery as if written and sung for the first time by Nina Simone. The arrangements are tasteful, not overblown and compliment her unique voice. Nina Simone's versions of these timeless songs are better than the originals. Once played, you just want to play it over again. I have been listening to this recording for over 20 years and do not tire of it. Play this album over a romantic dinner for two. This really is a classic album.

This edition of 'Here Comes The Sun' is a newly remastered import, that sounds great!, Nina here gives some very soulful and emotional readings of some well known classics.

An Almighty Senora of Song,

Let's see: either I'm writing a review for an Import edition of this album, or at least nobody pays attention -very sadly- to this wonderful and deep singer. If you ask me, I think that Nina Simone stands as the forgotten "Momma" for singers like Alicia Keys or Whitney Houston (which, in my humble opinion, is a mediocre singer). In this CD Nina Simone takes songs like The Beatles' "Here comes the Sun" and takes them to new, unthinkable heights thanks to her bluesy, quite cinic but sweet voice. Yeah, there's a definition for her voice: pure brownsound. Believe me: this senora is worth listening. Once you get caught by her voice, there will be no more Britney Spears, Cristina Aguilera -not even that mousy Avril Lavergne- whatever, whatever, etc. in your CD player. So, give yourself a chance. Save your ears from eternal saccharine. Check this out. enjoy.

I owned this album as a vinyl LP when it came out, but lost it during one of too many moves. There's not a single bad or even indifferent track, and a few that are about as good as this kind of music can get.
Will never get tired of this brilliant collection.

My Favorite All-Time Nina Simone album,
By Michael Harriman (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Here Comes the Sun (Audio CD)
This was the first album by Nina Simone that I was introduced to. Like the first kiss, the first love affair and the other 'firsts' in my life, this album moved and touched me so deeply that it's always been my personal all-time favorite album. Ever since hearing "Here Comes The Sun," I've had this love affair for her music and style. Of all the Nina Simone albums I have and heard since my introduction, "Here Comes The Sun," continues and will always be my absolute 'Favorite.' Every song on this album is Ms. Simone at her best - especially "New World Coming" and "Angel Of The Morning." The album flows so beautifully.
