5.0 out of 5 stars This album has everything!!!!!!
From hypnotic beats to soulful vocalist it can all be found on this album. At the start of the album, you get hit with a heavy dose of rap that leads you into some laid back r&b type songs including two of my favorites Music in me(come alive) and Glad you're Mine. Great music as always from DJ Spinna.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 - Works well on the RnB tip anyway
The amount of production emanating from this man in any given year is extraorinary. On this LP, Spinna amasses both hip hop and rnb artists with a sprinkling of jazz talents. The result is predictably mixed. A sure shot banger, Jean Grae paired with Apani B Fly is sadly mired in a mediocre beat. The same can be said for the Jigmastas' track. "Tune You Out"...

"Tune You Out" f/ Rise is tolerable, but the bottom line is that these tracks pale to the much more funkier rnb songs. "Idols" w/ the sultry Vinia Mojica works splendidly (if BBE were only sage enough to sign her on as the label's preeminent female vocalist). Likewise for the tracks with Soullive, Angela Johnson and Shaun Escoffery. These handful of songs are a testament to what production Spinna is capable of and mesh well. Despite the hour plus duration of "Here to There", I was expecting more quality hip hop tracks, which Spinna is normally adept at crafting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Undeniably the best there is, November 7, 2004

I don't think I need to praise DJ Spinna, his music speaks volumes for his skill and talent. Anything he touches is instantly better, there is literally NOTHING that this man has produced that's bad. Cop this album.

I am a big fan of dj spinna's work. He's my favourite dj/producer and I have almost everything he has touched(music wise!) that I could get my hands on. I strongly recommend this cd/album and any of his other mix cd's, albums, singles and remixes! Good look'n out, one!

Love, Peace & Nappyness!

4.0 out of 5 stars Here to There has Arrived in A Major Way, February 10, 2003

"Here to There", is about what I was expecting from Spinna. Spinna brought the Relaxing & Hypnotic Beats with MC's & other quality Vocalist that mesh a wonderful Chemistry for the albums sound. "You Got to Live" displays the Jigmastas on a smoothed out progessive vibe. You can't stop nodding your head as ovasoul7 brings in some serious motivational melodies on "surley". Check out Vinia Mojica taking it to the next level with "Idols", the beat breaks back forth something serious, everything she does is pretty dope though.
"Hold" shows
Apani B.Fly and Jane Grae rockingit over a serious beat. "Alphonso's Thang" (track 1) gets to be a bit much, a tight track messed up by someone talking to much. But spoken word gems make up for that mishap through "Fly and Burn" and "The Originator" (last track on album). outside of the annoying background voice on track 7 "all up in it" (Soulive)
this album proves to be relaxing enjoyment to the ears -n- soul, another Great addition to BBE's Beat Generation series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for a hip hop fan, October 21, 2003

I gave this album 3 stars because I'm sure European beat-heads will be able to appreciate Spinna's work, but I was hoping for something more along the lines of Jay Dee's or Pete Rock's releases in this series. Like Polyrhythm Addicts said, "you shoulda known better."

Not much here for hip hop fans, and even performances by Apani and Jean Grae are under-whelming. This album is at its best on the straight-laced funk cut "All Up In It."

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have - People will Sleep, September 7, 2003

Walking in the Record Store and looking for new music to purchase is always a weekly occurence for me. Anyway, after walking around and seeking something different, I ran across DJ Spinna's Album. Considering this is another BBE Release, it was A MUST HAVE! Since I bought Pete Rock's joint, Jay Dilla's, Jazzy Jeff, Marley Marl, King Britt, and others, I have not been disappointed. This Collection of DJ's and others contributing to BBE's focus and future growth as a record label, who's promoting good quality music. In my opinion, they have found a formula that is missing in Today's Music Market. Again, Spinna's album is what I call A MUST HAVE in the Collection, or otherwise will go on as being "Slept On". Last, I will conclude that I think the most signature piece on this album is Track 9, called "Surely" by a group called Ovasoul7, which Spinna mixed in Hip Hop and laced it with some old funk, Jazz, and Soul, in addition to the Lead Vocals, that makes it a classic soul cut. Overall, just support this brother and his album. Peace!!!
