"the uncollected B.B. King...is very collectible", September 13, 2001
This review is from: Here & There: The Uncollected Bb King (Audio CD)
If you're a B.B. King fan, and who on this planet isn't...this compilation is worth it's weight in gold...not only is this some of his best work, but you've got some of the greats from each genre working with the "King of Blues".
Opening track is a real killer ~ "CAUGHT A TOUCH OF YOUR LOVE", featuring the late great Grover Washington Jr. on sax..."FROSTY", composed and featuring Albert Collins, with Coco Montoya..."SIX PACK", written by and featuring Gary Burton on vibes..."THREE O'CLOCK BLUES", with Jimmy Smith (King of the Organ) sharing the spotlight with B.B. King..."THE THRILL IS GONE", featuring country singer Willie Nelson, this has that certain classic sound.
But the highlight is ~ "T'AIN'T NOBODY'S BIZNESS (IF I DO)', this my friends is King in his natural habitant, you can tell immediately how much he's enjoying himself, as he takes us all under his wing we can share all the love that's in his heart, he is truly an "Ambassador" through his music, just as the late great jazzman Louis Armstrong was!
Hats off to ~ Andy McKaie (producer), Pat Lawrence (executive producer), Dana Smart (assistant producer) and Hip-O Records in releasing the instantly recognizable sound of "Lucille" (his guitar) and a style that sets him apart from the rest of the bluesmen ~ B.B. KING!
You might try other Hip-O releases, all worthy of a good listen ~ "Freddy King Ultimate Collection" (314-520-909-2)..."Grover Washington Jr. Ultimate Collection" (012-153-888-2)..."Lightin' Slim Rooster Blues" (HIPD-40134)
Total Time: 50:29 on 11 Tracks ~ Hip-O Records 314-556-307-2 ~ (2001)

The Collected Uncollected, January 15, 2002
This review is from: Here & There: The Uncollected Bb King (Audio CD)
This CD is a great time and money saver for B.B. King fans, collecting his numerous guest appearances from the last 20 years. Selections range from "T'Ain't Nobody's Bizness (If I Do)" from 1983's The King of Comedy OST to his appearances on several 2000 albums. More importantly, the CD stands on it's own as a very enjoyable B.B. album. Since the tracks come from a variety of sources, it showcases King's proficiency in several idioms, from Blues with Albert Collins, to Jazz with Grover Washington, Jr. and Gary Burton, to a duet with Willie Nelson on B.B.'s classic "The Thrill Is Gone." Also included is the previously unreleased "Yes Man" and unreleased in U.S. "All You Ever Give Me Is The Blues." Prime B.B. throughout.
