Editorial Reviews

The world is eagerly awaiting the triumphant return of one of the biggest defenders of traditional heavy metal, 3 Inches Of Blood, Whose new album has been a few years in the making. Thoughout the new album, Here Waits Thy Doom the group demonstrates that the best way to stay ahead of the Heavy metal curve is to write music with force and feeling, that comes from the heart. Only then will a band truly make a statement that separates them from the masses of followers. With the new album, 3 Inches of Blood declare their originality with a ferocious battle cry.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple yet addictive., September 26, 2009
This review is from: Here Waits Thy Doom (Audio CD)
With the loss of Jamie Hooper due to vocal troubles and getting on a new label, 3 Inches of Blood basically play it safe with this album. Here Awaits Thy Doom is essentially a stripped down version of the band, dropping the thrash/speed metal influence and sticking to strait up heavy metal.

However although it lacks the speed and genre-jumping creativity of Advance & Vanquish and Fire Up the Blades, I can't bad mouth this album. Simply put it's addictive as hell. I find it impossible to try NOT to sing/scream along with this album while listening in my car, no matter how much of a jackass I look like. "Silent Killer," "Fierce Defender," and "Call of the Hammer" definitely earn their place among my favorites among their other tracks. And "Rock in Hell" is the best song AC/DC never wrote.

Strait forward no BS heavy metal fun, that's Here Awaits Thy Doom in a nutshell. Sure the fast metal junkies will whine, moan and yell "SELL OUTS!" but I think the majority of 3IOB fans (and heavy metal fans) will listen to this and have FUN.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3IOB's 4th Best Album!!!, September 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Here Waits Thy Doom (MP3 Download)
With much of the original cast missing they've certainly devolved from power-core to run of the mill rock and roll. I think most 3IOB fans will call this "The Side Project". Aside from a few songs much of the album is pretty boring. Recommend doing a listen and see if you really want the whole thing or just the good songs. The production quality is lower than normal on this one, no sound effects, no epic story arcs, no album theme. Naturally anything Cam Pipes touches instantly hogs my playlist, Advance & Vanquish just gets more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Call Of The Hammer!, September 22, 2009

This review is from: Here Waits Thy Doom (Audio CD)
This album is awesome. Amazing riffs, great song structure, amazing vox as usual and a complete killer album overall. The production was not over done which makes songs like "Call Of The Hammer" sound even better, this a great new release for a truly great band. \m/ \m/
