With the loss of Jamie Hooper due to vocal troubles and getting on a new label, 3 Inches of Blood basically play it safe with this album. Here Awaits Thy Doom is essentially a stripped down version of the band, dropping the thrash/speed metal influence and sticking to strait up heavy metal.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3IOB's 4th Best Album!!!
With much of the original cast missing they've certainly devolved from power-core to run of the mill rock and roll. I think most 3IOB fans will call this "The Side Project". Aside from a few songs much of the album is pretty boring. Recommend doing a listen and see if you really want the whole thing or just the good songs. The production quality is lower than normal...

However although it lacks the speed and genre-jumping creativity of Advance & Vanquish and Fire Up the Blades, I can't bad mouth this album. Simply put it's addictive as hell. I find it impossible to try NOT to sing/scream along with this album while listening in my car, no matter how much of a jackass I look like. "Silent Killer," "Fierce Defender," and "Call of the Hammer" definitely earn their place among my favorites among their other tracks. And "Rock in Hell" is the best song AC/DC never wrote.

Strait forward no BS heavy metal fun, that's Here Awaits Thy Doom in a nutshell. Sure the fast metal junkies will whine, moan and yell "SELL OUTS!" but I think the majority of 3IOB fans (and heavy metal fans) will listen to this and have FUN.

Aside from a few songs much of the album is pretty boring. Recommend doing a listen and see if you really want the whole thing or just the good songs. The production quality is lower than normal on this one, no sound effects, no epic story arcs, no album theme. Naturally anything Cam Pipes touches instantly hogs my playlist, Advance & Vanquish just gets more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Call Of The Hammer!, September 22, 2009

This album is awesome. Amazing riffs, great song structure, amazing vox as usual and a complete killer album overall. The production was not over done which makes songs like "Call Of The Hammer" sound even better, this a great new release for a truly great band. \m/ \m/

4.0 out of 5 stars A Slight Departure, but Still Kicks Ass!, August 13, 2010
This review is from: Here Waits Thy Doom (Audio CD)
Don't believe the hate! Despite the loss of harsh vocalist Jamie Hooper (whose shoes are filled somewhat commendably by Justin Hagberg) and the change in style and tempo from 'Fire Up the Blades', 'Here Waits Thy Doom' is a great metal album. Compared to previous efforts, the songs are certainly "slower" and more melodic, but there is great differentiation between each track. Opening with the fast and hard hitting 'Battles and Brotherhood', followed by the rockin', AC/DC-esque 'Rock in Hell', it's obvious listeners are in for a diverse feast for the ears; 'Preachers Daughter' channels Judas Priest with a bluesy fervor, and 'All of Them Witches' instantly harkens you back to Iron Maiden's glory years. But don't think the band has fallen back solely on a safer metal sound - 'Call of the Hammer' and 'Execution Tank' are face-smashing, aural explosions.

Even though 'Battlecry Under a Wintersun' and 'Advance and Vanquish' set the stage, and 'Fire Up the Blades' demonstrates the mastery that is 3IOB, I keep coming back time and again to 'Here Waits Thy Doom' whenever I'm craving Cam and the boys. It's catchy and overall damn good metal!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, more classic metal sound than usual for this band, January 7, 2011

This CD, opens with the classic metal sound of "Battles and Brotherhood" and keeps up a good solid music throughout. I agree with the reviewer who said that on this CD the band loses its cutting edge thrash style but that isn't a negative at all for those listeners who were raised on more classic metal sound. I like the way the vocals don't remind me of anything "rappy" or "hiphoppy", stylistic pits into which rock music in general appears to be falling. They remind me some of Led Zeppelin's faster songs. (This is a good LZ pick, ZOSO: Listen to "Black Dog" to compare with the present CD. Led Zeppelin IV (aka ZOSO))

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure awesomness, pure power. Lots of fun., November 18, 2010

High pitched vocals, powerfull guitars, orgasmic solos (fierce defender, omfg) and fantasy! This is heavy metal done right. There is really a Power metal feel to it. Every song on the album is good, even though I didnt like "snake charmer" and "call of the hammer" at first. Preacher's daughter really stands out, that hard rock sounding hommage to old school music. Fierce defender has to be my favorite one though. Vocals on this album are really well donne, with the right intensity at the right moment, not too much hardcore screaming ( that hardcore vocalist from the other albums is not there anymore). this really is old school metal like we like, with modern sound and recording. Buy this one if you like some of their songs (like Battles of the brotherhood for example, go watch the clip on youtube).

5.0 out of 5 stars Short and to the point review: The best thing the band has done!, May 31, 2010
This review is from: Here Waits Thy Doom (Audio CD)
The band has now switched to an all out heavy metal sound and with the loss of Hooper, the metalcore influence is gone and the door hit it on the way out (BAMMMMMM! GOOD RIDDANCE!). RIFFS, RIFFS, RIFFS! I absolutely love the riffs on this album; they are addictive to listen to and as another reviewer put it, fun! The guys are really tapping their main influences here, evident as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.

Give the album a listen, you won't be disappointed. Better yet, buy it and enjoy!

3.0 out of 5 stars I miss the other singer!!!!, October 7, 2009
This review is from: Here Waits Thy Doom (Audio CD)
....this album is good and all but it just ain't the pure fire-metal that the previous efforts have been. hooper brought that extra edge to this band that i think, especially now that i've heard this album, set them apart from other run of the mill metal bands. 'Blades' was the first album i heard from these guys and it blew me the hell away. 'Battlecry' is next for me, and this one unfortunately is fourth. dang...

3.0 out of 5 stars What happened?, October 25, 2009
This review is from: Here Waits Thy Doom (Audio CD)
I think i share a lot of the same opinions of the other poor reviews.Fist of i love seeing them live they are great and always welcome in houston, I love the last albums I ven recommended them to people. Fire u the blades was in my cd player/ ipod for months to a year and still is. I was so exited when i saw this on the shelf, i didnt know there was a new one. I was ready to bang my head and have a good ol metal time, but what happened next wasn't metal at all...First i had a confused look on my face when i heard how poor the production value compared to their last records....this sounds muffled and mushed together, no destinction from the other instruments, like everything was played on 1 channel or something. Who ever engineered this should get his hearing checked. For the music/songs, their all blah. Without Hooper the band suffers. Pipes is awesome but they need Hoopers edge. The guitar riffs are also tired nothing great. This album also sounds more like a rock album rather than metal...I hope this is temporary, I need this band to get back into battle form. Ready to kill orks metal, this is not...Sorry guys it took me a few weeks before i wrote this because i really love the band, I'm also giving this album a listen every other day hoping I "get it" but it just doesnt, so i put Blades or Vanquish and reminise of the old glory days....

1.0 out of 5 stars FAIL!, September 22, 2009
This review is from: Here Waits Thy Doom (Audio CD)
What happened to this band? The last two efforts were great! Song writing this time around is weak, harsh vocalist Jamie Hooper is gone and his presence is missed, not to mention the production is crap. Need I say more? This release = fail!
