SR-71 should be a smash in America.,

This review is from: Here We Go Again (+2 Bonus Tracks) (Audio CD)
You can tell the state of music in the US is at an all time low when an incredible CD like HERE WE GO AGAIN by SR-71 is not available at stores here in the States. This is the best album I have heard in a long time and I think anyone who has the chance to hear it will agree. SR-71 wrote the song 1985 that was made popular by Bowling For Soup and every song on the CD is even better than that song. Axl Rose would be a sure hit and the cover of Peter Gabriel's IN YOUR EYES comes to life and really rocks. The music industry continues to shove rap and other no talent acts down our throats and ignores great bands like SR-71 who should be heard. People in Japan and Europe are lucky that they can easily obtain these great AMERICAN bands. I sure wish everyone else could. Go to SR-71's web site and order this CD and you will not be sorry. It's a little pricey for a single disc but it is well worth it and they have fast delivery.

I'm not overexaggerating the five-star rating. This album is genuinely great - pretty much every track is highly enjoyable. SR-71 should bring this to the U.S. if they have any sense. 'Axl Rose' would be a sure hit, as well as 'Mosquito' and the title track. This is a great album. However, it's cheaper at their site, and they have great shipping. Buy it already!

Hometown Boys,
This review is from: Here We Go Again (+2 Bonus Tracks) (Audio CD)
Admittedly, I'm a big SR-71 fan. They're my local, Baltimore boys and I've seen them in concert several times. As far as their music goes, I LOVED 'Now You See Inside' but wasn't incredibly bowled over by 'Tomorrow' (though it had its good points IE: She Was Dead, Lucky.) Having seen them live though, I could forgive one pretty crap album and when I heard the live performances of Axl Rose, All American, Here We Go Again, and 1895... as well as In Your Eyes... I just kept thinking."Wow, even if all the other songs on the album are complete crap... five good ones is worth the money I'd pay for the CD." So I bought it, and I'm not disappointed at all. I absolutely LOVE the remake of 'In Your Eyes'. In concert it's less than polished and always seemed sort of impromptu and disorderly... but they've ironed all that out for the CD and come up with a FANTASTIC rendition of an old favorite. There are fun songs like 'Mosquito' and '1985'... and for the real rockers out there there's 'Blood and Bourbon' with a heavy base line and ear-blowing tempo. All in all... the only thing that I don't like about this album is the fact that I had to send all the way to Japan to get a copy. Not sure if Mitch Allen's solo shot is going to make it... but, for his sake, I hope it does. I look forward to hearing the American release. A.

SR71's latest album....more of the same,

This is the band's latest CD release and its more of the same alt rock with a splash of punk and post teen angst thrown into the mix. The album is 'Here We Go Again', and for me the songs were a tad to punkish for me but was still enjoyable to listen too. The artwork of the CD cover could have been done better. I purchased this CD through Amazon.com and it was a pleasure to do so cause I know I will always get a pretty fast delivery. This band has still alot of experience to glean and needs more time to evolve. The song '1985' that was made famous by the group 'Bowling For Soup' is a far superior version on this album. Another enjoyable and worthwhile song to listen too is 'All American'. This CD would be great and would blend in nicely as background music for a teenage party.

BUT IT'S WELL WORTH IT!!! The band through major member changes who made Now You See Inside have definitely matured into a deeper lyrical band while still keeping the same modern punk rock appeal to the new songs. The CD itself is worth the extra import fee for "Axl Rose" alone. But the rest of the album is simply incredible as well. Guaranteed to listen to "In Your Eyes" repeatedly if purchased. Plus you got great songs like "Here We Go Again", any guy whose ever had a bad relationship should listen to this one along with "Mosquito". "1985" is there as well, yup Sr-71's loaner song to "Bowling for Soup". It's a good tune, but definitely not the best on the album. It's a really complete album with issues of sex, relationships, and growing up. I would not hesistate to recommend this album to anyone, Sr71 fan or not.

This review is from: Here We Go Again (+2 Bonus Tracks) (Audio CD)
SR-71 did a good job with this but it is not as good as their other 2 albums. this is only avalible in japan unfortunetly. but good new is on August 24 MITCH ALLAN (lead vocalist for the band) is coming out with his own album called "IN YOUR EYES". this is not the breaking of sr-71 its just something they had to do. then later on SR-71 is coming out with another album posibably to be called 'clawing my way to the middle' or something like that. they will have some songs from "HERE WE GO AGAIN" on there albums coming out in america but not all.
List of songs on "HERE WE GO AGAIN" Axl Rose In Your Eyes Gone 1985 Mosquito Here We Go Again All American Blue Light Special Life 15 Minute Idol The One Everything Bonus Tracks *Blood & Bourbon *She Was Dead(Demo) I hope this all help Rock on SR

Sigh - I had such great hopes for these guys. From their first two albums, it seemed that SR-71 were bringing something new to our lives, a punky boy band who actually had intelligence behind their semi-cutesy, "bad boys really" image. They had (or had produced for them)a tight guitar sound with an occasional tendency towards ingenuity - and genuine emotion behind some of their songs. See "Last Man On The Moon" or "Another Night Alone" if you don't believe me. What's changed? Well, not much, and that's part of the problem. When they get it right on this, like "Axl Rose", they're witty, slightly cruel, and sound great. The cover of "In Your Eyes" lights me up every time I hear it, and is one of few covers that adds something to the original. If they'd written it themselves, it would be worth the ridiculous import cost alone (it's not as if it was recorded in Japan, is it?) "Gone" rocks, and "Mosquito" does very well too, thank you. "1985" is basically another "Axl Rose" but nowhere near as tight or clever, and the rest of the album is divided between those similar to previous songs, but tired ("Here We Go Again" could be called "Right Now" part 3, but NOWHERE near as good as episode II, "She Was Dead") and those that sound like they're trying to figure out something new and interesting to do, and getting it wrong - every single time. Hope springs eternal that they will find a direction that works for them, because there's untapped talent remaining - talk of lack of interest by labels in their album is concerning - but they can't stay where they are for much longer, and their initial wanderings away from what they know have, unfortunately, not been as brave or clever as they have proved they can be.

What the heck is WRONG...,

...with the Music industry, the U.S., rock music enjoying people in general - for NOT noticing & accepting SR-71 as the greatest "new" modern/nu/post punk rock based acts!!!
So why is this GREAT rock album just released in Japan?????!!!! "Axl Roxe" is a #1 - believe me! ...and as forementioned some tracks have been "settled" to other (younger?!) Acts like Bowling for Soup, JParis,... SR-71 are AWESOME and it's a REAL SHAME that NOONE (except a "few" people) are able to realize that!!! I'm from Germany and i love SR-71 since 2000 - and it drives me to tears that their masterpieces must be searched real hard to purchase... PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BAND (unfortunately now on hiatus) and the now actual solo career of mastermind Mitch Allan!!! ROCK ON!
