This review is from: Here We Go Again (Audio CD)
When I first listened to "Here We Go Again", the first single off her second album of the same title, I pretty much felt that we have seen this Disney-driven actress/singer blossom to a talented musical artist.

It's one thing to see Demi Lovato shine on "Camp Rock" and her debut album "Don't Forget" but the singer has said that this album is "more me" and that includes a sound that incorporates a Jonas Brothers and John Mayer sound.

Inspired by John Mayer, The Jonas Brothers and Jon McLaughlin, Lovato has collaborated with these talents and the end result is a fantastic sophomore album that easily eclipses her debut album in musical production but also vocally.

It's one thing to have a solid track "Here We Go Again" but she continues that rock/pop excitement with tracks such as "Solo", "Got Dynamite" and "Everything You're Not".

But she shines in tracks such as her acoustic guitar track "Catch Me" which she solely wrote, shines in the John Mayer collaboration with "World of Chances", the upbeat "Stop the World" track which she wrote with Jonas Brothers Nick Jonas and "Falling Over Me" which she collaborated with Jon McLaughlin.

Overall, Lovato has distanced herself from other Disney talent turned music artists with her latest album "Here We Go Again". She can act but she can also sing and she has positioned herself to become one of the prominent young singers in the musical scene today.

This album is definitely recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful 2nd album, July 21, 2009
This review is from: Here We Go Again (MP3 Download)
In her second Album Demi explores a lot of different music styles. Her rock is still intact, but she has a lot of nice slow pieces like "A world of chances." and "falling over me." Her voice is very strong and original, and it goes along nicely with all of her songs wither they are upbeat or mellow. She has also co-written quite a few of her songs. It is now one of my favorite albums and it is definitely a must for any of Demi's fans, who I'm sure will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd Record Is A Unique Balance Of Tween Pop Sensitivity & Adult Contemporary Maturity, February 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Here We Go Again (Audio CD)
Believe it or not, I'm a 39-year-old male who has come to like 17-year-old actress/singer Demi Lovato. I say again! I'm a guy on the doorstep of 40 and I actually like both of her records! Her 2007 debut, "Don't Forget", was a very enjoyable pop/rock record that showed a sense of Adult Contemporary maturity that is lacking in the sound quality of her Disney Channel counterparts such as Miley Cyrus (although I do enjoy some of her songs), her real-life BFF Selena Gomez, and Ashley Tisdale. Let it also be known that in terms of vocal talent, Lovato appears to be the best among the four.

On her second effort, 2009's "Here We Go Again", she continues to expand on her ever-growing maturity in terms of sound and production. The songwriting is simple but effective, which gives it that unique balance of being a record that your young daughter would sing along to, but you'll find yourself dancing along with. With remarkably catchy songs that highlight her apparent four-octave range (?), both of her albums appear to be a hybrid of Tween Pop sensitivity & Adult Contemporary maturity.

Clocking in at just over 46 minutes over 14 tracks, the album's opener, the title track, is a rockin' cut that could've done without the final cymbal crash at the very end. "Solo", "U Got Nothin' On Me", "Everything You're Not", & "World Of Chances" are solid, thoroughly enjoyable tracks that are just comfortable to hear. "Catch Me" & "Gift Of A Friend" are outstanding slow ballads, but "Everytime You Lie" is the standout song here, a wonderful slice of R&B/Jazz-tinged pop that could be easily used in a party/club scene in a TV series like "Melrose Place", "90210", or the now-departed "The O.C.".

As the primary star of [the Disney Channel Original Series] "Sonny With A Chance", it's only fitting the album closes with the show's theme song "So Far So Great". The sing-songy arrangement is a bit daunting, but this girl gives it a spirited "YEOOWWWW" at the end and redeems it nicely. But Lovato deserves a lot of credit for being able to hold this record together with a vocal range that seems to be beyond her 17 years of age (as of this writing). Yeah, she's no Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey or even Beyonce' and she's not trying to be. Truth be told? She's not SUPPOSED to be .... and she SHOULDN'T be!!!

Take into account that both "Don't Forget" & "Here We Go Again" were released by a major label (Hollywood Records) NOT affliated with Disney. That speaks volumes about the impression they had about Lovato's talent and the sound she managed to create a mere two records in. Solid and consistent, "Here We Go Again" is just an infectious, catchy, and just plain comfortable record. Her vocal talent & sound will mature with age and that should be expected. When that does happen, it's possible she'll give the aforementioned ladies a run for their money.

Key Tracks: "Everytime You Lie", "Here We Go Again", "Gift Of A Friend",
"Falling Over Me", "Catch Me".

Honorable Mention: "So Far So Great" (only for Demi's "YEOOWWWW!" at the end).

4.0 out of 5 stars A great sound, but not everyone likes the new Demi Lovato..., October 18, 2009

This review is from: Here We Go Again (Audio CD)
I felt this album was a little bit of a downgrade from her debut Don't Forget. I liked the sound a little better on her first album, although Here We Go Again, Solo, Quiet, Catch Me, and Got Dynamite have a great sound, all while greatly varying in speed and genre. Unfortunately, I was a little taken-aback by her transformation from the sweet innocent girl-next-door to the new divaish Demi - slathered in makeup and looking more or less depressed. Here's a beautiful young woman that feels now that she needs to look artificial to be beautiful and that she has to conform to the rest of the industry to be successful - which is exactly what she swore not to do on her track La La Land off of her first cd. Also, on this album, she's more angry and unsympathetic, and can't seem to find much more to talk about than ex-boyfriends and sleazy ideas about dating (with the only exception being the track Gift of a Friend).
So, overall, a well-produced cd by a talented artist, but monotonous lyrics and pouty cover photos take away from what could have been an amazing work of rock music.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'Here We Go Again' With Another Great CD!!!!, August 28, 2009

This review is from: Here We Go Again (MP3 Download)
1.Here We Go Again - The album is named after this song and has a music video to go along. I think it's really relative to if you're going through a rough relationship. And it has a really good beat and the lyrics are totally true. It just makes you want to sing along right away. This is one of my top #1 favorite songs off the album

2.Solo - This song starts off kinda slow but then as the song goes on it gets faster and more upbeat. This is a great song to think about after a breakup and it's beat is really good to dance to when your bored or your sad and want to be happy. I personally love this song...it's one of my favorites

3.U Got Nothin' On Me - I love the first part of the song because it's different and the beat gets you really hyper and ready to hear a good song. It something that everyone can sing along to and even if your not a Demi fan you still have to love the song. I also like this one

4.Falling Over Me - This is another song that starts off slow. We're used to Demi's music being rock and fast and this one shows another slower side to her music. I think anyone can relate to this song and the lyrics are so true in so many different situations. It features the amazing Jon McLaughin!

5.Quiet - This song is another that starts off slow. I love the beat because it's like slow and quiet and then all of a sudden it's gets loud and fast. This song is just the perfect song to sing at a concert and it's probably my second favorite song.

6.Catch Me - I think this song totally came from her song Don't Forget. It has the same beat if you really listen and it has basically the same topic. It's kinda like a part 2 to Don't Forget. I like it and the fact that she wrote a part 2 to Don't Forget.

7.Every Time You Lie - This song sounds like a jazz song you would here in a coffee shop or a small club or something. I love it it's something different than the music we here now it's going back to Jazz. Fourth favorite song

8.Got Dynamite - Got Dynamite is definitely rock and it seems so Demi. This song is definitely up her ally and that's why she sounds so good singing it.

9.Stop The World- This song was co-written by Nick Jonas and I love lyrics. Any lyrics Nick writes or help writes always sound so good when there song. I love the message hidden in it and I love the beat in it. I was really into it when I first heard it.

10.World of Chances - This song was written by Demi and John Mayor. It definitely says John Mayor in it. It's not really one of my favorite songs I mean I'm not really into it but I still thinks it's an ok song

11.Remember December - I love this song! This is my second #1 song off the album. This and Here We Go Again are tied. The beat makes it so easy to dance to. The lyrics are also fun. I love Demi's voice in this one it shows are strong her voice is

12.Everything You're Not - This is another start off slow song. I think that when Demi was singing this song she really got into it. It's just one of those songs that you kinda have to love. It's a really good song.

13.Gift of a Friend - I think this song is one of the slowest off the album. It's something we really wouldn't expect from Demi because it's so slow and she's usually fast and upbeat. But when you hear the song you love it. It shows she has a different side of her voice and shows that she's not all rock. This is my third favorite song because it's the truth and it's real.

14.So Far So Great - Is the theme song for Sonny With a Chance. Everyone loves to sing and dance along to this song. I love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD ROCK WITH A ROMANTIC THEME, January 29, 2010

This review is from: Here We Go Again (Audio CD)
There are several things I like about the cd, First, clean lyrics. If you're buying it for your kids, you wont have to worry about 2500000 curse words every two seconds. Next, the song writers wrote about things that almost anyone of any age who has been in or are currently in an romantic relationship can relate too. The cd has mostly a rock sound to it, but also has a couple of good ballad style songs perfectly placed.
I would compare Miss Lovato's Angelic voice to that of Ann Wilson of Heart or perhaps Olivia Newton John or Kate Bush (yes Miss Lovato, if you're reading this, I'm comparing you to some of the legends in music. She can really hit the high notes, and does it at exactly the right moment. Whether the cd was thrown together in a rush or thoroughly worked on for months, the result is a masterpiece.
Plus the fact that the songs don't all sound the same is an added bonus.
It is a cd anyone can dance to, and for many who enjoy singing, a great cd to sing along with, as it contains a booklet with lyrics.
If you are tired of only collecting songs for mp3 players and want an charming compact disc to add to your displayed eollection, & if you enjoy good rock music, I would urge you to purchase Here We Go Again.

I am a 22 year old woman, and I can honestly say I love this album!! My favorite songs are Got Dynamite, World of Chances, and Falling Over Me. She has alot of different music styles on here to make a complete album. Out of all the Disney Stars she has the best voice that is not synthezied. Great purchase!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Demi is Amazing, July 19, 2011
This review is from: Here We Go Again (MP3 Download)
I just love Demi. She's amazing in everything she does. She's a good singer, she's a good actress. She's just awesome. And one of the many things I love about her is the fact that she has such a good voice. I mean, I always wonder what singers like Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, etc sound live. Because you know they just fix up their voices with computers. But Demi is different. She sounds good on cd and live. She really is very talented. You hardly ever find artists such as Demi, Lady Gaga, Greyson Chance, etc who don't lipsynch and who rly have awesome voices. demi is one of those people who can do anything with their voice. she's just so talented. and she's SOO pretty ! i'm so glad she's healthy again and she's come back and is doing music again. I'm actually kinda glad that she dropped Sonny with a chance because, now she can focus on wat she's really really good at - music. I hope wat i was getting at made sense :\ Shes just rly talented and thats all there is to it. (: <3

5.0 out of 5 stars Getting to Know Demi, June 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Here We Go Again (Audio CD)
I didn't care for a lot of the songs on Demi's first album, but I LOVE this one. I feel like this album really lets Demi's fans get to know her. As I've heard about different things in her life, I've thought, "Hey, that's just like in the song!" I also really liked the blend of up-tempo and slow songs; it gives you a nice mix to choose from. The songs aren't just for jamming to; they're inspiring as well. Parents can buy this CD with confidence that neither the performer nor her songs are not influencing kids to have bad behavior or make bad decisions (as opposed to encouraging kids to party and go clubbing, for example).
