5.0 out of 5 stars Here's to a new style of music for The Ten Tenors
I have everything the Ten Tenors have put out that in America we can buy. I listen to their CD's and DVD just about to the exclusion of everything else. Their earlier work is more vocals, rich harmony, and just about some of the best work I have heard by a group. 3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Sound
The sound level from song to song is inconsistent. Requiring frequent volume adjustment. Several songs the orchestra overshadows the voices. The songs are beautiful.

I have everything the Ten Tenors have put out that in America we can buy. I listen to their CD's and DVD just about to the exclusion of everything else. Their earlier work is more vocals, rich harmony, and just about some of the best work I have heard by a group. They do a rendition of A Bridge Over Troubled Water on their Colours CD that is better than Simon and Garfunkel and I never thought anyone could sing it better-they absolutely do.
When I first bought this CD, didn't wait until it got here-I ordered it from Australia, I will admit I was somewhat disappointed and even wrote in the Forum at their website I thought the background music overwhelmed their voices. Their other albums have really featured mostly piano or they sang acappella, so I think I was just so used to that. But since I wrote about that disappointment, I have totally changed my mind. After listening to nothing else, I think this is probably their best work so far. The background music is sweeping and majestic and as you listen to it more and more, the instruments fade away except when they are forefront and the guys are NOT singing. The music adds so much to their sound and I think you will not be disappointed with a single cut on this CD. I say buy it and make sure you don't make a decision on whether you like it or not until you have listened to it more than once. It truly is a wonderful album, still with their marvelous harmony and more solo work by various members than in albums before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite powerful and sentimental, February 25, 2007
This review is from: Here's to the Heroes (Audio CD)
I found this album very moving, with tremendously rich vocals and instrumentals. It has a strong sentimentality to its sound, which I found highly appealing. But if you see yourself as above all that, this album will be easy to criticize, as some of the comments below attest.

In my mind, this music is more like show tunes, and less like a classical operatic rendition. And for that, it is quite well done. My favorite song is Bongiorno Principesa (sp?), which is quite moving and deeply romantic. One does not have to know Italian to understand love in song.

If other classical cross-over, such as Andrea Bocelli appeals to you, I strongly suggest you give it a try.

The Ten Tenors are wonderfully talented young Australian singers who have performed all over the world. If you are lucky enough to have one of their concerts near you, please go. They are fantastic singers from classics to Freddie Mercury, but they are also entertainers. I have nearly worn this CD out playing it over and over.

Saw this group on TV (Extreme Home Makeover) and really liked their sound. Bought this CD because it has "Here's to the Heroes" on it as well as being title of Album. Can't say one song besides title track jumped out at me but when I just need to chill, i keep playing this cd. It is just good relaxing music.
