Our grandkids love it,

We got this video for our three grandchildren, 2,4, and 8 because they love animals. Every time they come over, they ask if they can watch "the Joe video". It's a very funny video, and everytime we watch it we learn something new. I love the humor, and the kids think it's hilarious. Even the 8 year old, who is getting in the "cool" stage, enjoys it. We're going to get a copy for them to take home with them.

This video is so much fun for little kids. My twins (age 4) race to the TV to try to get sniffed by the animals. They feed the animals and afterward they often spend the next hour pretending they are the animals in the video. They come home from preschool and I let them watch one movie before dinner. We've only had this one for two weeks since school started, but they've asked for this one more than half the time, and they always want to see it again. [My son's] favorite is the winking llama. [My daughter's] favorite is the gentle "rapping" dancing English elephant. She knows every word and sings it at dinner. I like the silly goose. There's something for everyone in this tape!

A welcome relief from usual mindless videos,

Hooray--finally, here's a children's video I don't want to hide away after viewing it for the 5th time. Cleverly written, the narration appeals to adults with some humorous references that only grown-ups understand. Meanwhile, it entertains kids in a novel way: It encourages them to touch the TV screen and pretend to feed the animals (whose big, close-up faces mesmerize tykes, I notice). So I must agree with the quote on the video cover taken from a San Francisco KRON-TV reviewer. He said: "I've never seen anything like it." A big surprise for me was hearing veteran actor Ed Asner's upbeat, happy-tinged voice as Joe the Dog. What a difference from his booming, assertive voice as the cranky -- albeit loveable -- boss on "Mary Tyler Moore."

Great Video! Fun & Educational for Kids AND their Parents,

What a refreshing video! This video honors the innate intelligence of our kids. It's a witty video with multiple levels that adults and kids can both enjoy. My 15 month old loves the music and the animals - "dancing" to the music and pointing to the animals & showing much more interest in this video than any of the others I have (and I have those popular "baby" videos). And, as my little one gets older I know that "feeding" the animals will be fun (what a great idea!).I'd like to see more videos like this that we can enjoy together as a family. The video is quite funny as well as educational, and the animals "say" such positive things to the kids. I really enjoy the animal "voices", I found myself saying, "you smell mar-ve-lous!" to my little one, just like the polar bear on the video!

I already have this tape and I'm buying another for a friend. Her little girl loves animals on videos, and so I thought this would make a great birthday present. My own little boy was crying and fussy, and then I put in the tape. He immediately stopped crying, ran up to the TV and tried to pat Joe the Dog. He's only 1, but I am sure that as he gets older this tape will become a favorite. It will also be great for teaching him the names of different animals.

Best childrens video I've seen,
By A 10-year old viewer (Ohio) - See all my reviews

We've owned this video for a month now, and my two girls want to watch it every day, actually every time I ask what video they want to watch. I keep thinking eventually they'll tire of running up and feeding the animals but they keep running up all giddy to feed the hungry cow, giraffe, dog, ect. As one of the other viewers wrote, thank goodness it's a wonderful video that even adults like because otherwise with these repeat viewings I'd hate to think of how I'd feel about it! I wish more tapes could be this creative, funny, and educational. It's not an exageration to say this is the best video we've ever bought our girls.

Product arrived within 10 days from a seller in Canada. My 4 1/2 year old nephew loves watching the video and runs up to the TV to feed the animals. He has watched it several times and enjoys it very much. Product was like new.

Joe the Dog( AKA Here's looking at you Kid) is our son's favorite DVD of all time, and I have to say I enjoy watching it too. The DVD shows so many different kinds of animals and give wonderful information about them. This would be a great DVD for any child that loves animals and it's not painful for the parent to watch with the child.

This is the most popular DVD in our house. We have a 4 and a 7 year old, and they adore Joe the dog and all his animal friends. Best of all they are learning a lot about animals and not even realizing. My mother babysits and it's her favorite because the humor is appealing to adults too. No boring kids video here!

Funny and educational,
This review is from: Here's Looking at You, Kid! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The other day my son came up to me and told me that an elephant is very social, and that camels humps are filled with fat not water and a whole bunch of other animal facts that I had no idea he knew. He's only 3 1/2, and i couldn't figure out where he learned this information until I remembered the video my brother had given him for Christmas last year. He always asks to see it, but when it's on, I always take advantage of the time and tend to chores and work. This time I sat down and watched it with him, and I have to say that if you're an adult who opts to sit down with your young child to watch a video, this is a good pick because its double edge humor had me laughing out loud, too. When my second grader came home from school that day, he watched it with his brother and HE loved it too, so I'd say this is a video that appeals to many ages. I liked Ed Asner's voice as the main dog here. We just saw him in the movie Elf and it was fun to see him on our TV as a dog.
