5.0 out of 5 stars Our grandkids love it, September 22, 2001
We got this video for our three grandchildren, 2,4, and 8 because they love animals. Every time they come over, they ask if they can watch "the Joe video". It's a very funny video, and everytime we watch it we learn something new. I love the humor, and the kids think it's hilarious. Even the 8 year old, who is getting in the "cool" stage, enjoys it. We're going to get a copy for them to take home with them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny and educational!, September 19, 2001

This video is so much fun for little kids. My twins (age 4) race to the TV to try to get sniffed by the animals. They feed the animals and afterward they often spend the next hour pretending they are the animals in the video. They come home from preschool and I let them watch one movie before dinner. We've only had this one for two weeks since school started, but they've asked for this one more than half the time, and they always want to see it again. [My son's] favorite is the winking llama. [My daughter's] favorite is the gentle "rapping" dancing English elephant. She knows every word and sings it at dinner. I like the silly goose. There's something for everyone in this tape!

5.0 out of 5 stars A welcome relief from usual mindless videos, October 24, 2001
By
Maggie McClure (Boca Raton, Florida) - See all my reviews
Hooray--finally, here's a children's video I don't want to hide away after viewing it for the 5th time. Cleverly written, the narration appeals to adults with some humorous references that only grown-ups understand. Meanwhile, it entertains kids in a novel way: It encourages them to touch the TV screen and pretend to feed the animals (whose big, close-up faces mesmerize tykes, I notice). So I must agree with the quote on the video cover taken from a San Francisco KRON-TV reviewer. He said: "I've never seen anything like it."
A big surprise for me was hearing veteran actor Ed Asner's upbeat, happy-tinged voice as Joe the Dog. What a difference from his booming, assertive voice as the cranky -- albeit loveable -- boss on "Mary Tyler Moore."
