Season One of Here's Lucy is not even out yet, and Season Two is all ready to order for it's November 3, 2009 release! This is great news for Lucy fans that these shows will be out quickly, and I hope the film quality is just as good as the quick releases of this great series! Season Two starts out with a family trip out west, and after that, the great guest stars just keep on coming show after show! The first of these guest stars is Patty Andrews, who re-enacts the famous WWII Andrews Sisters singing act with Lucy and daughter Lucie Arnaz- they are just great! There are so many great performances by Milton Berle, Paul Winchell, Gary Morton, Johnny Carson, Ed McMahon, Jack LaLanne, Liberace, Lawrence Welk, Ann-Margret, Wally Cox, Alan Hale, Wayne Newton, Carol Burnett and many others. Even the wonderful Vivian Vance returns to guest star as Lucy's friend Vivian Jones. Lucy's real life 77 year old mother DeDe Ball (she passed away in 1977 at age 84) is seen as the woman in the audience on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. DeDe was in the viewing audience of every single show of I Love Lucy, The Lucy Show and Here's Lucy. They say you can hear her distinctive laugh and even hear her talking (DeDe always said UH-OH when her daughter Lucy was in trouble) on the background tracks in Lucy's shows, but this is the rarest time that you actually get to see Lucy's mom on a show! This second season is just wonderful with so many great stars and performances, one of the best being Desi Arnaz Jr. and Ann-Margret singing together and if Season Three comes out just as quickly, it won't be long before we get to see the highest rated show of Here's Lucy, which is the first show of Season Three-Lucy Meets The Burton's!

This is so reminiscent of I Love Lucy's show at the Brown Derby with William Holden! (Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon guest star, with Lucy's real life Mom DeDe Ball as the woman in the audience)
12. (8 Dec 69) LUCY AND THE GENERATION GAP- Kim and Craig put on a school play with a generation gap theme and Lucy and Harry play the parents.
13. (15 Dec 69) LUCY AND THE BOGIE AFFAIR- Kim and Craig find a sheepdog and name it after Humphrey Bogart (Bogie), but soon find out Bogie is a she and must find homes for the 9 puppies. (Jack LaLanne and Lord Nelson (the dog) guest star)

When MPI Home Video announced early in 2009 that they would release all the seasons of "Here's Lucy" they were not kidding. Even before "Here's Lucy-Season 1" has been released MPI has announced that the second season's worth of episodes will be coming out in November. If these boxsets continue to be released in this manner (2 sets per year), it means that we fans will have the entire "Here's Lucy" library of shows by the end of 2011!
The second year of "Here's Lucy" continued Lucille Ball's dominance in the national Nielsens. Finishing the year at #6 proved to the audience and critics that "Here's Lucy's" success was no fluke: audiences watched the series in droves and the show became a Monday night staple like its predecessors "I Love Lucy" and "The Lucy Show". Some wonderful guest stars popped up in the second year including Johnny Carson, Lawrence Welk, Carol Burnett, Ann-Margret, Milton Berle, and even Liberace. Vivian Vance came back for two episodes and her chemistry with Lucy is evident.
This set features 24 excellent shows that are remastered from their original prints, is 610 minutes long, and the sound is English audio with English subtitles. Among the many bonus features in this set are the following: new video introductions by Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr., a featurette called "Here's Lucy On Vacation", "Let's Talk To Lucy- a loss interview with Lucy friend Carol Burnett, Special Footage, Treasures from Lucy's Vault: a "Here's Lucy" slideshow, Production Files, and Original CBS and syndication promos.

I can't believe that season 2 of "Here's Lucy" will be out on November 3, 2009. I have already pre-ordered by copy of this wonderful classic comedy series. Season two of "Here's Lucy" aired on CBS-TV during the 1969-70 TV season on Monday night at 8:30 pm. "Here's Lucy" finished no. 6 in the ratings with a 23.9 rating, up three notches from season one which finished in 9th place. Lucy earned three Golden Globe nominations as Best Actress In A Comedy Series. I know that all 24 episodes will be released with the same loving care as the first 24 episodes. I also hope that MPI includes many bonus features as they did with season one. The first 4 episodes of season two are shot on location and are really great. Lucy Runs the Rapids is a true classic. After these episodes we have great episodes with Lucy and Lawrence Welk (Vivian Vance is also in this episode) and is one of the best Here's Lucy episodes! Other epiosodes include Ann Margret, Carol Burnett (hysterical!), Johnny Carson, Liberace, Patti Andrews and Milton Berle. We also have Vivan Vance again in Lucy and Viv Go To Tijuana (pure joy) and a truly wonderful epiosde with Lucy and Gale Gordon dressing up as hippies in Lucy At The Drive-In Movie. This series proved that Lucille Ball is and always will be the First Lady of Television and Queen of Comedy. Monday night has never been the same since this series ended in 1974. Lucy is indeed a true Icon. A+ for the series and A+ to MPI for releasing this series and giving it the recognition it deserves. I can't wait for the Lucy special "Lucy Calls The President" that will be released sometime in early 2010. Thank you MPI!

The first season of Here's Lucy, featured stars Lucille Ball, Gale Gordon, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr., mostly confined to studio sets. The second season opens ambitiously with four episodes in a row shot on location, featuring the Carter clan on the road in a Winnebago, at the Air Force Academy in Colorado, and at various locations in the western US, including on a Navaho Indian reservation, and rafting on the Colorado River. In these memorable episodes, Lucille seems full of energy, engaging in the kind of physical slapstick, that was largely absent in the season one. Harrison Otis Carter (Gordon) also seems rejuvenated, with his meanness dial turned up a couple of notches from the year before. With a season's worth of experience under their belts, Lucie and Desi seem more confident and at ease, although the location work was something new for them. Wayne Newton's Casa de Shenandoah ranch in Nevada, would also be featured in a later episode.

In The Lucy Show, much of Lucy Carmichael's humor was based on being an overbearing loudmouth, and irritating the hell out of people. Lucy Carter's personality moves more in this direction in season two, as she becomes more irritating and abrasive, causing Harry's blood pressure to rise, as Ball and Gordon continue to produce comedic magic. Gordon's temper tantrums usually make for delicious viewing, as new sides of Harry's character continue to be revealed. In "Lucy And Harry's Tonsils", Harry is quivering in fear contemplating having an operation, and later gets the hots for a young nurse. And in "Lucy At The Drive-In Movie", Harry and Lucy disguise themselves as hippies, so they can spy on Kim while on a date. Using different writers, the program moves away from spotlighting the kids in new ventures, treating them more like regular actors, instead of as a novelty. Although the phase "Oh mother", continues to be frequently heard, Kim (Lucie Arnaz) seems to have matured greatly, and her wardrobe is far less flamboyant.

The program continues to feature musical guests and production numbers, but to a lesser extent. "Lucy And The Generation Gap" is the only time the entire cast is in a major production number. One of the more notable musical performances is an incendiary duet, featuring Craig (Desi Arnaz Jr.) and Ann-Margret, performing a song supposedly written by Craig, who does his very best Elvis impersonation.

There are appearances by entertainment heavyweights, including Liberace, Carol Burnett, and Milton Berle, who is terrific as a shady used car dealer. Another highlight is "Lucy And Johnny Carson" where both Johnny and Ed McMahon are exposed to the full force of Lucy's personality. "Lucy and Lawrence Welk" features both the famous conductor, and old pal Vivian Vance, in an episode that immortalizes the phrase "wonderful, wonderful". And "Lucy And Wally Cox", features Cox and Alan Hale Jr. (The Skipper from Gilligan's Island), in a family related drama. While some of the humor is timeless, because of the heavy emphasis on celebrities and personalities, having some familiarity with the various guest stars is essential to understanding the humor. Because of this, the series may not play too well to today's audiences.

Each of the 24 episodes is close captioned, and features an introduction by someone involved in the production of that particular episode. The set contains some nice extras of interest to the average fan, including a number of vintage home movies, making a very nice package.

Im ready for season 3.I hope the entire series get released and quick. so far season 1 and 2 are great remastered quality lots of bonus materials.
There are alot of great episodes and really enjoy every show Lucille ball did. we never will have television like this anymore

Love how Season Two has been released so fast from Season One. I only hope MPI keeps up these great releases. Image quality and sound quality are as good as it could get in my eyes.

Great classic releases in great season sets. Very nostalgic and I actually really like the show, yeah it can be corny etc, but Lucy was a class act. You can't name too many women in tv history who trailblazed comedy for as many decades.

This series is a step down from the earlier series like "The Lucy Show", but it`s still pretty good. Much better than the crud on tv
these days. Lucy is still a nut and Gale Gordon is still there for her to aggervate. You can hardly go wrong with these two.
Buy it, watch it, and fondly remember the good old days when tv comedies were actually funny instead of just stupid and irritating
like they are today.

Season 2 is much better than season 1. THe characters all are more developed and the actors work better with each other. Lucy seems more relaxed and lets her kids, Gale, or the guest star shine. There are a lot of great physical comedy moments and musical numbers done mostly in a early 60s feel. My favorite shows were "Lucy Runs the Rapids" (great physical comedy and family interaction); "Lucy and the Andrew Sisters (Lucy's great at upstaging Patty and the show ends before you want it too because it is so funny and entertaining); Lucy and the Boagie Affair", "Lucy Protects her Job (Lucie gives her mom a run for the money and shows how great an actress she is); "Lucy and Lawrence Welk" (Mary Jane finally shines and is funny not just a fill-in; Viv is hilarious and acts better than Ethel would); Lucy and Ann MArgret (Love its modern feel, hinted sexual tension, and great late 60s showstopping number); "Lucy and Wally Cox" (Wally and Lucy keep feeding eachother with great lines) Lucy and Wayne Newton (Wanye and the kids shine in an enjoyable musical show with lots of family humor in the dialogue): Lucy Takes Over (Great to see her making Harry afraid and nervous and see him for a moment get his reward) and Lucy and Carol Burnett (The Queens of Comedy in a hilarious sneaky cat fight to win a beauty contest) A must for any fan of classic comedy and great stars.

Having the seasons of this series released so quickly is such a treat. Season 3 is coming out in June. I grew up loving Lucy and this series HERE'S LUCY was the one airing in prime time during my high school years. Such memories and such classic antics from Lucille Ball. Many try to compare this series to I LOVE LUCY and you just can't do that. Lucy managed to have I LOVE LUCY, THE LUCY SHOW and HERE'S LUCY be very different. Many don't realize that on the history making I LOVE LUCY Lucille Ball was older than she was playing. She was already in her mid 40s. With each continuous series Lucy continued to master her unique brand of comedy with timing and precision that is awe-inspiring.

The character Lucy has always gotten into trouble and many situations were a little over the top but made believable by Lucy's performance. She always made the character of Lucy believable and the audience would always cheer her on thru her antics. Also, no matter how slapstick the comedy got Lucy was always a lady and had immense class. So as she aged, her comedy in her series became very appropriate to her age. Never crass, always classy and always one of a kind. This season of HERE'S LUCY has some great guest stars like Carol Burnett, Patti Andrews and Milton Berle. There are also some roadtrip storylines. But for me the best episodes were always the simple ones that took place either in her home or the office - CARTER'S UNIQUE EMPLOYMENT AGENCY. To see Lucille Ball use her immense skill in LUCY'S BURGLAR ALARM is priceless and worth the price of this set in itself. She is robbed and hilarious as she lectures her children with the robber standing right there. But when the officer comes to whom she is greatly attracted Lucy flirts up a storm and it is priceless. It is these moments where her pure unique artistry shines through.

Comedy has changed through the years and today we get different styles of performing but no one will ever match the Queen herself. To watch an episode of HERE'S LUCY shows you that with each step she took Lucy owned the screen with a talent so precise and unique with timing so exquisite there could only be one like her. Highly recommended.

Season Two of HERE'S LUCY kicked off with an unprecedented, four-episode "location" shoot, which follows Lucy and the gang on a quest to return a winnebago to a friend in San Francisco - instead, Lucy decides to take several detours, including a visit to the Air Force Academy, a Native American settlement, and even a trip down the fearsome Colorado rapids. Taking the show out of the comfort of a studio brought the production team even closer together, and gave Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. their first taste of what was involved in being a real "movie star". Helmed by one of Lucy's best directors - George Marshall - the four opening HERE'S LUCY Season Two episodes are surely amongst the all-time favourites on every fan's list. Beverly Garland from "Decoy" shows up in an uncredited bit as a secretary in Part Two of "Lucy Goes to the Air Force Academy".

The guest stars come out to shine in further episodes, too. In "Lucy and the Andrews Sisters", Patty Andrews recruits Lucy and Kim (Lucie Arnaz) to recreate the famous musical trio for a fan-club meeting - complete with Craig (Desi Arnaz Jr.) playing Bing Crosby! Wayne Newton returns for his second appearance, this time shot at his real-life Las Vegas horse ranch, where he and the kids do a cute musical number with the horses. Lovely Ann-Margret steals the show with Craig when they perform a groovy song called "Country Magic" in "Lucy and Ann-Margret".

Carol Burnett returns again in "Lucy and Carol Burnett", but this time she plays the fictitious Carol Krausmeyer, a fellow secretary, who ruthlessly competes against Lucy in the Secretary Beautiful contest, hosted by Robert Alda. The back-and-forth banter between the two is especially hilarious in this show. "Lucy and the Laundress" sees Lucy having to secretly work in a Chinese laundry in order to pay off some damage when she rear-ends the laundry truck. Lucy and Viv (Vivian Vance) travel south of the border in "Lucy and Viv Visit Tijuana", only for Harry (Gale Gordon) to be arrested at customs for smuggling illegal contraband!

Two episodes, intentionally or not, actually hark back to some of the classic episodes from the California season of "I Love Lucy". In "Lucy and Lawrence Welk", Lucy welcomes a visit from near-sighted Viv, who desperately wants to meet Lawrence Welk. The closest she can get, however, is wax statue of the TV star. This is one of the rare HERE'S LUCY shows which has both of Lucy's mainstay female cohorts - Vivian Vance and Mary Jane Croft - in the same episode. In "Lucy and Johnny Carson", Lucy wins Stump the Band and enjoys a meal at the Brown Derby with Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon - hold the tossed salad!

As to be expected from MPI Home Video, the extra features are very worthwhile. Introductions for every episode featuring either Lucie, Desi Jr., or one of the surviving cast/crew members; the new featurette "Here's Lucy On Location" which goes into detail on the four-episode season opener, a rare radio interview with Carol Burnett (recorded during her Broadway run in "Fade Out-Fade In"), original network promos, plus lots more.
