5.0 out of 5 stars Old Order Amish explained
This set of books is precious. I never had a clue what Amish life involved or how they compared to the Mennonites. And then add the twist of the modern world girl in an Amish setting. Well, the set is just dynamite and I will keep them always to perhaps read again someday or share with grandchildren when they come along. Precious, precious, precious.

2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting details but cardboard plot
The author definitely knows Amish details. But in my opinion these were "two-dimensional" novels that could have been so much richer. Furthermore, the likelihood of those events coming together--the unlikely adoption, the true love not really drowning in the ocean but reappearing five years later, the main heroine becoming the mistress of a manor--made...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Shunning, The Confession, The Reckoning, April 25, 2000
By A Customer
I read the first 2 books in the series while vacationing at my sisters. They were remarkable and I can't wait to get the entire set for myself so I can read the 3rd book and pass them on the my daughter and friends. Wonderful story about a very brave and very strong willed young girl who searched for her identify and kept her faith!

When I thought of donating the books to my church library, I now have second thoughts. These books are worth saving in your own library. Every book kept me on the edge of my seat, and glued to my hands. I couldn't put them down. Katie (Katherine) went where her heart was, and she had a heart large enough for two societies: The Amish and her mother's legacy. Hope I see more books on the Amish, the most wonderful people on Earth. Bless those Amish folk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Holy Cow!, March 4, 2002
This is one trilogy that I couldn't get enough of! The first book is super, but the 2nd drags a little. The third, in my opinion, is the best.

I highly recommend this series!

This review is from: The Heritage of Lancaster County (The Shunning, The Confession & The Reckoning) (Hardcover)
Beverly Lewis has got to be my favorite author these days. I thoroughly enjoyed this book series (which included all 3 novels in one large edition). I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves Christian fiction - and anyone who loves to read about the Amish. Excellent series - can't wait to read more!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amish Thinking, December 2, 2001

These books were amazing! Beverly Lewis has captured a truly difficult character. Katie is a girl torn between two worlds, the one she grew up in (Amish) and the one she wants to live in ("fancy"). When she discovers a long kept secret, she finds that she gets heartwrenchingly thrown into the fancy world by her people. After spending some time with the "English", Katie begins the place she grew up and the people she grew up with. Eventually, she asks herself one question-Where do I belong?

5.0 out of 5 stars A good look into the Amish world, March 17, 2000
I've read many books but not many have touched me as this one did. In her struggle to find who she really is Katie goes through many trials. But through it all keeps her faith strong. These books are exellent and I recommend them to just about anyone who loves to read.
