4.0 out of 5 stars Pool Cover Pump works, November 24, 2008
This review is from: Heritage Pool and Cover Pump (Toy)
Bought the Heritage Pool Cover pump as I was looking for a cheap pump for getting water off my pool cover before it freezes.

Works as advertised, steady stream of water pumps out of the hose. I would recommend it as long as you don't need something super fast. Usually takes a few hours.

I was looking for an inexpensive pump for occasional use to lower the water level in my pond for maintenance. This one worked nicely the one time I've needed it. Mine looks slightly different than the image shown (and is labeled Swim'n Play (swimnplay.com) rather than Heritage); most importantly, the exhaust is threaded so you can attach the male end of a garden hose to it. The intake is via the grill in the bottom of the front; you can stand the pump upright (fully submersed) in deep water, or lay it on its face in shallow water. It has a reusable foam filter behind the grill. The included 1-page instructions say it is "intended only to be used to remove water from the cover of your swimming pool," but the box says "universal pump can be used in: above ground pools, in ground pools, tanks and ponds." I ran it continuously for about 30 min with no problem. It's rated at 500 gal/hr; the flow out of the hose seemed slightly less than when connected to a fully-open house spigot. Has a 24' cord with a 3-prong plug.
