Herman is a kind-hearted little octopus who helps everyone he meets-- a great role model for children to think about.

I would check this out of the library almost every week so I could read it over and over.

Wonderful book for toddlers. Teaches the pure joy of giving and plants the seed to look for ways of helping others. It is fun interactively - counting, hide & seek Herman, colors & shapes and problem solving.

Herman the Helper was my favorite book as a little girl, and I was thrilled to find it at Amazon. The illustrations are so colorful and inviting; I used to spend hours with this book. The story is also upbeat and very charming, so if you have kids, or if you still feel like one, you'll love Herman!

This was my all time favorite book when I was little. I would check this out of the library almost every week so I could read it over and over. I'm 27 now and haven't seen the book since I was young but still have memories of the vivid illustrations. Great read for the kids!

Herman the Helper is brilliant on so many levels. He is like the second coming of Jesus in cute little green octopus form. Look out for the random Chinese dragon!

Oh yeah - and Jose Aruego and Ariane Dewey are the best children's book illustrators ever.

I was young when I first heard the story of Herman the Helper. I liked the way the pictures and words made me feel so good inside. Although the book was on loan from the library and had to be returned, my persistent parents looked everywhere for the book and finally located it in California. The book made its way back home with them in NY, and I still have it, 20 years later!

When I was a child, I found this book through our school library and fell in love with it. The sweet story and colorful illustrations captured me as a little one. My brother and I checked it out over and over for many years in elementary school. It wasn't til I had a child of my own, that a random memory of this wonderful story sent me on a crazed search for the book. Now we own it and read it often, my son loves it as much as I did. My searching also led me to these books as well......so if you love "Herman the Helper" be sure to check out these books by the same author & illustrator - "Leo the Late Bloomer" and "Milton the Early Riser" - both wonderful stories as well for kids, and then "Three Friends" which is a story that incorporates Herman, Leo & Milton all in one story together! I would've flipped out as a kid if I had known these books also exist. Enjoy!!

Our grandson loves the Robert Kraus art and language detail. This is a replacement for a worn copy we got from the library many years ago.
