Caution: What the Description Doesn't Clearly Tell You, January 22, 2008
This review is from: Herman Miller Celle Basic Home Office Task Desk Chair - Graphite (Kitchen)
I was looking for a good quality chair with back support because I work at a computer all day. I was excited to see that a Herman Miller chair could be purchased for a fraction of the Aeron's cost. I did not expect to get an Aeron but the descriptions from the merchants selling these chairs are a little vague. Here's what you need to know:
1. Yes, it is a Herman Miller chair with the quality and comfort that you expect - sort of.
2. This chair is a BASIC chair. One of the vendor's description refers to it as "basic adjustments" another does state that there is no lumbar support.
3. There is no lumbar support adjustment on this chair. It is a separate piece that is not included at this price.
4. There is no seat depth adjustment on this chair.
5. There is no arm height adjustment on this chair.
6. There is no arm angle adjustment on this chair.
7. There is no arm width adjustment on this chair.
8. There is no forward tilt adjustment on this chair.
9. There is no tilt limiter on this chair.
You Can:
Adjust the seat height.
Adjust the tilt tension.
That's it. If you are expecting a typical Herman Miller chair that you can dial in to get the perfect ergonomic fit for your body this isn't it. It's one size fits all. I would spend the money to upgrade to an Aeron or Mirra rather than settle for this. The only reason I'm not sending mine back is because I bought it with a gift certificate that I got for Xmas and since it is free to me I can live with it.
