More About the Author

My latest book, THE FEMININE SUBJECT (Polity Press 2014) is the culmination of a lifetime of writing about feminist theory. Although I have written about various aspects of feminist theory I always seemed to come back to the subject. So in this book I decided to focus exclusively on the subject. I trace its evolution from Simone de Beauvoir to the present. What I try to show is that Beauvoir and those who followed her accomplished something remarkable and unique: a new concept in thought. Beauvoir's subject broke from the philosophical tradition into unchartered territory. This is exciting and I hope I have written an exciting book tracing this evolution.
